Golden Laced Wyannadotte Can't Walk

X-ray. An x-ray would show where and how bad the fracture is. A splint would help with a compound fracture, where the bone is sticking out. I don't know if I'd try and spint it if that's not what it is - you may just end up hurting the leg more. Right now the chicken is immobilizing itself. If it's a compound fracture I'd definitely take it to a vet.

If it is above the hock joint, I don't think you will be able to splint it. If below, you probably can, but you have to be sure not to do more harm than good. You can damage the soft tissue by putting on a splint with inadequate padding or by taping it too tight. Depending on how bad the break is, even taping it with something like masking tape would help stabilize it. You have to extend whatever you use well above and below the break.

Best bet would be to have a veterinarian do it. Not sure where you are, but most likely this would mean an emergency call - after hours and pricey.

Do you have anyone nearby that has any medical experience that could help?

Keep her quiet for sure - food and water in easy reach so she doesn't have to move around much and keep her clean.

It is swollen at the bottom of her foot, I don't know why. Also about the splint, she won't wear it, she managed to get it off.

Keep a close eye on your splint - make sure it is not creating sores where it presses on the leg. Make sure the toes are not swelling a lot - would indicate the circulation is compromised, possibly by the splint being on too tight or not padded well. Keep us posted. Keep her quiet as I said before. Animals have remarkable healing powers if given the chance.

The hock joint is the part where there are no feathers and leg bends forward - below it is a straight portion, above it the feathers start and the leg gets meaty.
