However.......she may decide that she needs to brood those "eggs". I have talked several of my hens into setting by leaving a few eggs in their nest. No guarantees, but silkies have a strong brood instinct. I would save eggs in anticipation of the event.

The golf balls will convince them that it's OK to lay eggs there, but only her hormones will dictate when she goes broody. My Wyandottes go broody when I need as many eggs as I can get to sell. Very inconvenient.
