Well .. if people chose to poke with commentary and be less than civil you are correct. But as a moderator here,I have more faith in BYC people than it seems some do.

Well, none of us have the ability to change the situation. The best we can do is brace for impact. What will happen will happen. We need to find ways to protect our individual savings and investments. Personal survival is what we should be looking for.

Tea party people think the situation can be corrected, but the numbers say "no way." I am of the opinion that things have gone too far wrong to be corrected.

Whatever we are in for, it will not be nice.

Teap Party guys? Don't forget Dunk, the majority of voters in the 2010 elections voted in MANY tea party repubs... And yes, I am all for letting august 2 come and go unless we have a balanced budget plan.

4 trillion saved over 10 years? when the budget puts us 1.1 trillion in the red every year??? Let me see 10x1.1 trillion minus 4 trillion.......... Still in worse shape than we are now plus compounding interest.

Until washington quits spending more than they bring in, let anarchy run its course. I'm sick of half my wages going to taxes anyhow.

Dude, i DO your taxes, have for three years now, you can complain all you want if I don't get you another refund, till then you are teapot and kettle.

Will it be painful to get our house back in order? You bet. The hardest part of solving any major problem is not coming up with an effective plan but actually implementing it. Coming up with a plan to quit smoking was easy for me. The first couple of days was absolute hell until I realized that it wasn't that bad and that I could survive the bumps on the road.

Can we resolve this issue? Not with 3 trillion in cuts over 10 years when we are projected to spend 1.1 trillion more than we take in during each of those years. 11 trillion - 3 trillion != a good deal.

Unfortunately Rufus is probably quite correct in his assessment. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Which dialect of Chinese were you thinking about learning. Maybe some Chinamex would be good.

Yes the majority in a few states voted in TP republicans. That's why it's such a mess. They know nothing about running a government and they are really screwing it up. The country doesn't run like a household and the debt ceiling needs to be raised to pay for stuff already purchased.

Yeah give us back Reagan. He only raised the debt ceiling 17 times. He was so much better.

I'm just PO'd because they know what needs to be done. They can't cut everything and the only way they can reduce the deficit in a significant way is to raise taxes on those that are paying a smaller overall percentage than the middle class. I'm not talking about the poor people either. A good percentage of the upper 2% pay 15% or less because of Bushes changing the rates on investment income. Investment income is how most wealthy people make their money. Why should we have to pay 28% on income we earn while they pay 15% on money sitting in a computer that some investment broker pushes around. The wealthy need to pay their fair share too.

They also need to cut entitlement programs a little to stretch them out. The only fix for medicare is medicare for all with everyone contributing. Nobody wants that either so I guess the old people can just go without after working their whole life and contributing for that piece of mind knowing that at least they'll get that 700.00 SS check and some doctoring. After all the only thing important is that the wealthy can get as rich as possible.

I sure don't know where the TP got it's name from. Sure doesn't match their actions. The Koch brothers are sure working their magic though.
