Goodbye, Old Friend

10 years ago I drove to the Vermont border to pick up Clarence, a young EE rooster. My old man passed today - he was probably 12 or so. The name suited him; he was my other dog, easy going and friendly, liked to be picked up and get scratches. He faithfully shepherded various flocks in that time. This past year he started showing some creakiness, a bit gimpy, a bit slower, favoring a lower roosting spot. Glad I had a chance to give him a last hug - I will miss him.

We all have had good pets.
But a great pet is really a friend. We miss them when their gone. We’ll never have another one like them. They were a gift.

And he died after 5 years last week he is the silkie in my avatar

So very sorry to hear Clarence passed away. He sounded like the perfect rooster and gentleman. Any chance you have some fertile eggs sired by CLarence , so hopefully you can get more like him?
