I'll keep that in mind next time a raccoon or fox goes after my flock. Or even when a mouse goes after the feed pail.
You know what excessive means...overkill. I don't think any reasonable person would advocate use of more force than is needed to diffuse a situation. If the racoon can't be stopped by killing it, that is one thing. Hitting a bird with a deadly object because you don't want to get nipped is another. I have no doubt that this man used more force than he needed to with this animal. I doubt that his life was in danger from the goose, especially if he left the scene and returned to hit it. He could have called animal control. And if you read the story, he didn't admit what happend and lied and said that it had been hit by a car...That sounds like he knew he had done wrong. if it had been self defense and he had accidentally hurt it more than he meant to, why wouldn't he just tell them that? I think the truth is obvious.
Terrielacy, is the goose blind in both eyes?
