Goose Eggs - Photos - pg 30

It is day 23.

Of the 5 eggs in the incubator it looks like one has died. It did not look promising last week but I left it in there anyway - just to be sure. There is no further growth and over half the egg is clear.

Of the 4 eggs left that I candled this morning 3 are completly dark. I could make out the faintest movment in only 1 egg. The aircells are intact and I can see nothing at all other than the air cell. The fourth egg has one place on the side that looks like a smallish air pocket, which I know it is not an air pocket, but that is the only way I know to describe it. There is a section of the egg which has not been filled by the gosling. I could not see any movement in the egg.

I sprinkled them, added water to the incubator for humidity and closed the lid.

Sunday is day 25 and I will take them out of the turner and see what happens.

Man, I am getting excited but I also have that knot in my stomach where I am scared to believe that any of them will even hatch! Deep breath! Slow Exhale!

Day 26 - stopped turning -

The hardest part of waiting has begun -

4 goose eggs left - will they hatch?

I candled them tonight. I can see the faintest movement up top just below the air cell.

A watched pot never boils. I keep checking for a rocking egg. Listening for a peep. Looking for a pip. As of 5 am those 4 goslings in those eggs were alive and moving.

It has been a loooong way from 12 dirty eggs to 4 living embryos.

My nerves are shot in this waiting game!
