I need help! I got home this afternoon to check on the egg (when I left this morning about 8 hours ago there was still no sign of an internal pip) so I got the humidity up to 78 and went to work. I came home to check the egg again and the humidity was down to 75, and when I picked up the egg to check for an internal pip I found that it had externally pipped on the opposite side I had face up and the opposite side of the air cell. Has anyone experienced this before and should I be worried? Attached is a blurry picture after I turned the egg side up to where it had pipped! Please help!

It’s naming some progress and now it’s chirping! Do you think it’s still in pretty good shape? Any recommendations?

That can happen, it's a pretty common malposition. The good news is, a lot of the time they can still hatch on their own. Because it didn't get to internally pip, it still has a lot of absorbing to do. Don't start to worry that it's not progressing until it's been 30 to 48 hours from the external pip.

Just in case, here's my article on assisted hatching:

Sorry to bug you again but I’m worried (I guess my anxiety definitely got the best of me) the baby has made some progress and it’s bill is completely out now and I can see a foot to the very left of it’s bill. I had some of the membrane turn a brown and took the egg out to pick some of the dried areas away and barely had any blood if any being careful I didn’t hit any blood vessels. I also put some neo
Looking good! Has it progressed any further since this morning?
yes! I had to help it out a little with removing some egg to finally get his beak out but he never bled. His foot seems to be in front of his face though. I keep checking to make sure it doesn’t cover his air holes though. I put some Vaseline on his membrane and you can tell he’s ready to be out of this daggone shell lol! Here’s the latest pic- let me know if you have any recommendations!
