Hello! Yesterday I had a single American Buff gosling hatch with a beak deformity. I’m having a hard time finding a lot of information on it, but it’s drinking ok, but haven’t seen it eat yet. It’s very strong, active and healthy and likes biting on my fingers while we cuddle. My question is, will this little one be ok with this deformity? This is my first gosling ever, so I’m very excited, especially since it’s parents hate me!

Aww! What a cutie. :love If she can eat and drink on her own, my guess is that she'll be just fine, though the crossbill may look worse over time.

I hatched Pilgrim goslings from shipped eggs a couple of weeks ago and one has a crossbill. The top part of her bill turns to the side, the bottom is straight. She is probably the most intrepid of the group and is one of the largest - she eats grass and her fermented feed just fine. If you're not already feeding it, you might want to offer fermented feed because it should be easier for her to eat (easy to scoop up).

Best wishes to you both!
