I'm off to a training on the somali culture this morning, followed by end of month cutoff duties on about 110 cases, an emergency assistance application, sending a case to MinnesotaCare, telling a client AGAIN why they have no insurance, and getting my desk cleaned off and notes written for my week away.

The sinus/ear infection + strep just did him in. The strep didn't respond to the first antibiotic, which let it get into his lungs, but it did start to respond to the second, but it was just too late. But even if we had done an ER trip over the weekend, the strep already had the few days to try to get going in his lungs, we'd have been too late there also. Then since he was already fighting the other infections, it let the pneumonia get going well.

He didn't really need the tubes as we found out, but I'm not pissy about that in the least. People keep saying I should be, but geesh, they were worried he'd gotten MRSA going in his lungs, I'd rather put the tubes in and not really need them than not put them in and be planning a funeral today.

I got my coffee and it tastes funny today but no donuts. I think there might be a snack cake out there or a toaster strudel in the freezer.

I'm surprisingly in a good mood considering it snowed this morning. I heard it and got up at about 12:30.
