I saw citrus on the list of don't feed foods but am wondering why. I have a grapefruit and lemon tree where my future chickens will roam so i'm wondering if they will be a problem... As I think about it, I have seen squirrels nibble the grapefruit during droughts, but I have never seen a bird mess with one. Will the chickens figure out it is yukky? Anyone have citrus experience?
I read somewhere that it is not really the citrus but the type of mold that may grow on it is deadly to chickens.
I am curious to know if chickens will eat the fruit from your trees. Maybe do some google searches. Citrus is the only thing I havent given mine either. Funny that I keep reading how peoples chickens are left to scrounge their compost piles and mine has stuff in it that chickens arent supposedly suppose to have either.
