Brutal. I should have known lol mine never picked at each other as chicks. RIRs were nasty later about plucking others feathers and starting fights.
Yeah mildly. Think you said 2hrs one way? I'm going to maysville. Oh that's terrible!

Usually it takes a little something (like the existing issue on granny's chick) to get them started - something as simple as a chick that has bumped itself, is a little down and got stepped on, etc, so that there is an exposed/irritated area that attracts the first peck, then that causes the area to be more irritated/bloody/etc and it's a full on cannibalistic feast from there...same throughout their life, an exposed/broken flesh area invites pecking which quickly spirals into disaster.

Shortstack is still an egg.

But screaming in the pip hole I made.

I put a little feed in the box for the chicks, and I'll water them. Then if shortstack is still an egg when I get home tonight, I'll hatch it. I'm afraid if I do it right now that Pancake won't keep him warm while he fluffs.

Come on, shortstack!

I watched a show once....Cesar Milan..
It was all about shock collars.
How most people use them at the wrong time and that the timing is very ver important.
I've seen him use it on many dogs...and sometimes just ONE shock "fixes".

i use to want to get some for our dogs..but I was afraid i would do more damage by shocking them all the time at the "wrong" times.

I did work with the fogs daily...and although it took many month..i got them to learn that the chickens were not snacks/toys.

Good luck!

Don't get me started on him and his methods or boundless "wisdom" ------while there is some value to some of the basic concepts and reasoning, his approach is one that can quickly get a person in trouble and make both dog and person more miserable than before. If you're interested in a training approach I'd suggest taking a look at some of the things out there by Victoria Stillwell - you can probably find videos online from her old show "It's me or the dog"

I had an alphabet diet yesterday  stuck on the letter "C"   carrots, cabbage, crackers, cheese, coffee, coke

Yikes, that sounds like ammunition for the dogs. Fight fire with fire :lau

yeppers  and then we're offered none of the left overs  and I know what cabbage does to them
I know what it does to me, those dogs are going to be shooting out from under the covers tonight
