That's for sure. I am still shocked that you can't eat horse meat in the US. Gov't took away the funding for inspections, and it's illegal to sell, serve, or distribute meat that has not been inspected. Not that I want to eat horse, but I don't see it as much different than eating a pig or a cow or adorable little lamby, or pet chickens even! Pet yaks? Not sure why horses get special consideration.
When I made the original comment, I was thinking of a restaurant a friend of mine went to in southern China. When you walk in, there are banks of cages covering the walls, filled with all sorts of critters, from reptiles, to birds, to mammals, including cats, and yes, dogs. Freshness is the utmost, so you choose your meal, and it will be cooked up for you. She was with her local relatives, and they considerately chose fish from one of the many aquarium tanks, but she said said it was quite strange to look around the restaurant and wonder what everyone else was eating.
