haha! No. no sacrifice. No plucking. The chickens have all their feathers.


Have not posted a pic of my hubs. He is handsome and dark haired, but asian not hispanic.

He can, however fix just about anything. He got our softener system from Sears, took it out of the box and installed it. Too bad we don't live closer or I would volunteer him to go look after yours. Is it plugged in okay? Is your outlet hose-pipe drain thingy clogged? There's probably a reset button or a clean cycle button or something. I'd start pushing buttons! Can't get any worse. I'll ask him if he has any ideas.

Still dripping a bit outside, so we are off to wash cars! Can't let the water go to waste!



Hubs asked if your softener is very old. You may just need a new one.

Ours has had standing water in it before, but because of the salt, it doesn't get smelly or swampy. I think he drained it then. I am worried something is wrong with your well or spring whatever.

And the big cat was back last night as well. Its a bobcat or cougar. I saw longer tail so I'm thinking cougar. Won't know for certain until the trail cam is put up and we can see it on video

Wow, CLady, it's amazing you have any chickens left with all those big predators lurking. We have bobcats and cougars here, but not in my back yard, thank heavens!

Up until this late summer I've never had problems with predaters. Now everything wants to eat them.

Sleep is a good thing.

Slept like junk last night kept waking up. Then was up at six for feedings and yard poopy scooping. I've got a far back pasture I have to hike through but the goat heads are so bad...I need to tie some steel to the bottom of my runners I think. They're old and the soles are getting pretty thin.

So got that done. Hubs is still...oh wait there's movement. Nope. He's still not getting up lol. Should probably have some coffee and do something.

What a beauty shaws. My neighbors on the one side have one...she's an absolute doll....though gets rather vocal with my peach (she gets excited and barks a lot...she and peach run the fence line together lol)

I was getting the look from Gracie (neighbors dog) this morning though. I was poopy scooping and peach was in the house being lazy with the hubs lol

She's rotten. Very smart and intuitive, easy to train. But she steals the kids' stuffed toys and chews the eyes off. And last night she ate 3/4 of a pizza from off the stove top.
