Hi bantam, Welcome to Grannys. We are a family based thread. We care about each others welfare and we are like a big family. So we talk about home life, kids. There is flirting, good times, chicken hatching and general care and maintenance. We strive to stay away from negativity and bad feelings.

I crashed after I got the boys home DD looked like crap. Lost another baby from the heat and Konner put my tolbunt hen down. The one with wry neck or whatever it was . Caused from injury. Heat had her too. I went through a whole bottle of poli-vi-sol with her and waited a very long time . yr.? I am rigging a brush to my vacuum to clean the vent for the air conditioner . Its not keeping up. Duct tape will fix anything. I lost the brush that came with it. LOL Shoot, Maybe I should of duct taped the hens neck .
Any way, any heat suggestions ? they dont seem to be fairing very well and its only going to get hotter.

Sorry about the losses.
I am not sure what to do about heat. I make sure to supply plenty of water and checking on therm many times a day while it is hot. I have heard of people hosing down the runs to cool it off though.

Babies are in cages in the shade. cooler then the barn even the big water containers are hotter them bath water. they have the pint jars. It takes about half hr. to make their water hot. I dont know if anything else can be done short of bringing them in the house. I just watched the weather . mid 90s , hight humidity and chance of storms. Its dropping into the low to mid 70s at night.

any idea for the quart? water containers ? should I change that out to a bowl ? I thought about freezing gallon water jugs but then what ? these are good sized cages.

Freeze water bottles to put inside the waterers.

Put out pans and bowls for them to dip their feet.

Hose down the bedding if you can, or a section of run.

Hang damp sheets on the walls of the run so a breeze blows through.

Give them watermelons, cucumbers, tomatoes, other veggie trimming.
