Granny, we did missionary work in E KY coalmine areas in summer of 2009. Very beautiful area. Daniel Boone forest & Smoky Mountain Parkway were beautiful. Went over tallest mountain in KY. Was a one lane dirt road that wound around & around. Thought we would fall off side of the mountain. Could see strip mining far below.

I wonder if thats the road from jackson to E. ? Thats the one I begged my mama let me out to walk. Very scary ! DB is where I used to hike !!!

I been hitting "continue" but it still takes forever. Maybe it is from byc since we are both getting it. Very frustrating. Hope you get a nap and feel better.

I have always wanted the boys to play a sport at school, but now that #2 is on the cross country team, I'm not so sure about it. He has practice every day until 5:30 and misses 6th period, or more, for meets. Then there is the team fundraising, which will be this Sunday volunteering to work at the town marathon in the morning. We are supposed to report for duty at 5am.

Good thing is, that's it. One event and fundraising is over. Beats knocking on doors and begging for money.

What kind of berries are they growing? Living near any sort of agriculture has it's downside, like loads of dust from the vineyards near us. Bee keepers do well in CA. So many fields and orchards need the bees to do their work. They get moved around a lot.

If you sign your kid up for a sport that requires traveling or what ever costs....make sure you can pay for them FIRST.

My child competes all OVER THE USA..I would never ask someone else to pay for an airline ticket or hotel room.

My brother has 2 girls that travel.
And usually at two different times!

If you sign your kid up for a sport that requires traveling or what ever costs....make sure you can pay for them FIRST.

We get the high school sports teams in front of the grocery store here ALL. THE. TIME.

And a bunch of them are so cocky and in your face. Dangit kid I just want my groceries!

People in our area usually grow blueberries, raspberries, and potatoes. There a couple people who grow lots of apples and corn also.

Kiki, this is a public school team. You pay $150 per sport for your kid, and I'm not exactly sure what the money is used for. Most CA school sports programs have been gutted financially, and there are very active parent booster clubs that fund raise to make up the gap. They are fanatical about fund raising! Not my cup o' tea, but I do think for students who have no money to spare, not to be able to play a sport at a public school is wrong. I guess the fundraising is a necessary evil.
