Kiki, this is a public school team.  You pay $150 per sport for your kid, and I'm not exactly sure what the money is used for.  Most CA school sports programs have been gutted financially, and there are very active parent booster clubs that fund raise to make up the gap.  They are fanatical about fund raising!  Not my cup o' tea, but I do think for students who have no money to spare, not to be able to play a sport at a public school is wrong.  I guess the fundraising is a necessary evil.

I would guess insurance, field/court maintenance, equipment, uniforms? Entry fees, coach's time... Things like that?

My kids hated sports. afraid they might need to move their fat assssessss off the couch or something. They charge here too. They charge for everything. Even books. They make you buy them then they make you turn them back in. LOL Right to a free education ? No more.

We haven't gotten to that yet, but don't let anyone fool you, nothing is free. Schools here just keep passing bond measures like it's free money or something. Our kids are going to be paying big bucks in the future for all that. I'd rather pay for it now than shove it down the road for unsuspecting kids to pay for later, who have no say in it, but will have all the responsibility to pay. Spending beyond our means seems to becoming part of the fabric of America. How many trillions do we owe??

I agree with you...It is not fair to make the kids pay for it IF it is in the public school BUT for the outside "other" little leagues....they drive me nuts!
