My DD had her own mini business when she was a kid. She raised hamsters, rats and gerbils for the pet stores. There were always baby somethings around. We had snakes too. I couldn't feed them. Someone else had to do the deed because I felt sorry for dinner.

I put a hand full of field mice pinkies in my mother's hand after I told her to close her eyes as I found something special for her. She did and proudly deposited the pinkies into her hands. She opened her eyes screamed, threw the pinkies and went over backwards in the kitchen chair. I was 7,8 or 9 at the time. HOnestly had no idea she hated mice or that the pinkies were even mice.

just found out it may be illegal to keep him. maybe i will call dnr and see what would happen to him. people keep all kinds of stuff around here though.

Since it can't be released, it would go to a little zoo or wildlife place. Sometimes they are euthanized because they think that it's better off dead than not living free. My mom had a deformed western goldfinch for years. It was given to her by a lady manning the willdlife rescue booth at the fair, and mom raised that little naked baby into a beautiful yellow charmer. Mr. Beakerman's feet were not able to grasp well, so he would not have survived out in the wild. He had a good life! Yes, it was against the law, but she figured since the rescue lady gave it to her...
