I will MAYBE have another in a week. the 2 i put in, one looks good, one pretty sure is dead. I want to candle again before i toss it though.

thanks eggsessive, i think i have the most of that covered. except the cocci med is in the chick starter. the rooster booster has the vitamins, electros. and the good bacteria in it. Its tail looks clear, good. i havent seen any poop. maybe its so small i cant.

Good advise Eggcessive! Probiotics are better then yogurt. And I think she ment wouldn't give meds right now.
Love the pics Granny! Such a cute little guy.

Are you sung the chick starter with meds? I have a 4 yr old barred rock who is lethargic, runny yellow poo. I have started probotics and electro lytes. I dont know what other meds to give. She won't eat and I am sticking her beak in water about every hour and half. Swollen crop area too. She is in my bathroom.

Help appreciated
Marlene

Hi Marlene. Sorry about your chicken. Don't know much about crop problems, but there is a good article about them. I think she might have sour crop(?). https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/a-crop-story

Granny's thread had turned into more of a social thread, even though it is still in the emergencies section. I'm sure others will chime in to help if they have any ideas about your chicken's problem. You might get a faster response if you start a new thread in the emergencies section. This one can get skipped over by some of the knowledgeable folks because they know we are chatting.

I hope your rock gets better. It would be good to separate her from the others and keep her warm. I think you may need more than probiotics and electrolytes, but they certainly can't hurt.

I saw someone was looking for the dosage for denagard for chickens, I googled it and just thought I'd post it.
denagard 12.5%
Chickens: The dosage for chickens is 25 mg of active substance per kg bodyweight (equivalent to 100 ml of product per 500 kg bodyweight). Tiamulin should be administered continuously at a level of 0.025% (250 ppm) in drinking water (2 ml product per litre of water) for 3 – 5 days and will provide approximately the following daily dosage of tiamulin depending on the age of the bird:
Day old chick: 125 – 150 mg/kg bodyweight
4 week old broiler: 30 – 50 mg/kg bodyweight
10 week old pullet: 30 – 45 mg/kg bodyweight
Layer: 25 mg/kg bodyweight

Thank you Kathryn! Couple of years ago we had web access to the poultry info for Denagard from the manufacturer. Since the product is not labeled for use in the US, they have closed off that portion of the Novartis website for us. Can use it for swine and other livestock, so we can still buy the product, but it has a piggy on the bottle!

Kind of makes you wonder what else we don't have access to. Free country?
