Good night Tippy! Tippy toe through the tulips!!!
the stove was one of the items I have purchased at an auction. Unfortunately got into a bidding war with one other lady. Ended up paying either 1400. or 1450. Right now its in my kitchen and I use it as a booze cabinet. LOL to bad I very rarely drink same with my friends.
WOW wishing 15 votes already on the contest CONGRATS
I grew up in an old farmhouse. Having a fire was the only way to keep warm until dad finally put in a couple of baseboard heaters. I still liked the wood stove. We got one that has low emissions. It's set up to reburn the smoke, so if you've got it burning right, there's no visible smoke coming out of the pipe. It's got a window too. Bad thing is it's an insert, so you can't cook on it. California just passed a law that no new houses can be built with fireplaces. Guess I will never had a new house.
This is from last year. Ming is up there right now!
LOL just looking at the "bookends" on your fireplace cat on 1 side and pooper scooped on the other. Beautiful cat part Siamese is Ming very vocal??
The kids are paired up as trainers. Primary, Support and Sitter, so 3 youth for each dog, usually selected from different "hoods" "gangs" and "race" to promote teamwork and a commonality. . They're interviewed for participation in the program. They must have good behavior and maintain "points" to participate. All the kids on each unit are allowed to interact with the dogs unless they are inappropriate, but the trainers are in charge of caring for, training and managing the dogs. i have 1 dog on each of 3 units this go-round. 2 YOP (youthful offender program) units, a transitional unit,15 or so kids. 9 month program where the youth learn life skills and a trade prior to monitored release. ! female unit, 1 male, open dorm setting, very strict. Dogs roam about with supervision, sleep in a crate or on a mat with the primary. 3rd unit is heartbreaking. Boys unit. Highly restricted. no more than 10. These boys have committed violent crimes. They sleep in cells and have a day room. They never leave the unit. They have a large exercise area. Their classroom is in the unit. Those are the kids I help the most. They've been failed. If they have parents, one or both are in prison. Generations of gang affiliation. If they don't commit the crime, they get killed. The juvey gets a lesser charge., Nuff from me. Hope I explained without going overboard. If I help just one to learn a different way.
Haha! That's my ash sifter to clean out the stove, but I keep the bigger coals to help light it next time. Metal cat scoop was the only thing I could find to work. Most mornings there are still hot coals. It's a virgin scoop. Never seen a poop!
Ming is very quiet. Not much Siamese about her except the coloring and blue eyes. She's tiny, less than 6 lbs, and gets cold really quick. She LOVES having a fire! That's my little baby. Best cat ever!
5.30am here, I didn't get chance to get back on here yesterday. The day just sort of got away from me and before I knew it bedtime was here!!
Have I missed much? Got 300+ posts here to catch up on
