I go grocery shopping today, spend $150 for groceries. Get home to find out the door knob on the front door won't open. Something has gone wrong with the inside of the knob, the key just turns in a circle without unlocking the knob.......

I am standing there looking at all of the groceries sitting on the porch, when my land lord shows up....... He helped me carry the heavy ladder from the barn so I could crawl in the window. Now, I have to go to town to buy door knobs for the house. One for the front door and one for the back door. He was on his way to work, so he is going to let me deduct $20 plus the cost of the knobs off of next month rent!

If he hadn't showed up, I would have had to take all of my refrigerated goodies to work and put them in the break room refrigerator!

Mike would have had to come over so I could load that ladder on his truck to get it up to the house. I think I should put my step ladder on the back porch. Maybe a lock and chain will keep somebody from using the ladder yo get in the house while I am gone......
This is why I hated renting. Since when is it YOUR responsibility to buy a new door knob? It's HIS responsibility to buy the knob and install it and I would have told him so.

I know my SIL never said anything to his landlord because they would get behind on the rent. Something we never did but still had crappy landlords.

If we are forced to rent again I am not painting, cleaning nor fixing a darn thing. In NYS renters have rights.

I know it was his responsibility to replace the knob. He worked until 3 am in the morning. He could come back today, but, I work today. So he would not have been able to get in my house to fix the lock. Since I don't want to crawl in the window at 10pm, I thought it would work better for me to replace the knob. I will be reimbursed for the knob when I pay the rent next month.

Just caught up reading the thread....Granny, glad your foot is on the mend and your son got to keep his aide. It's really bad when a few tattoos are more important than the person's substance.

So sorry to hear about all the dear pet losses. I hope all your hearts heal soon.

I managed to pay my 500 dollar elect. bill last month so they sent me another one

Thats a hard ride.

Thank you for all the kind words regarding our Hugger (kitty) - it was a very difficult day to say the least. I can't say enough about our wonderful vet, though. He has been laid to rest beneath my favorite tree. While it was a sad day, the fact that we know he had a long, happy, healthy 15 years in our family definitely brought comfort.

I about choked paying this last bill - luckily next month's is a little lower, so we are definitely on the springtime downhill slide for those bills. Is your electric an REMC?

He's beautiful. It is so heartbreaking to have to say good bye to out furkids, but knowing he is at the bridge enjoying his life with a new healthy body gives us some comfort. And the fact that he had a good life and loving family. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Just paid my electric and gas bill. 2300.00 plus over 150.oo just in meter rental fee's. Seems to me that meters should be the cost of their doing business. Would be like me renting a room and then charging extra for bedding. Last month water bill was over 1200.00 which also included meter rentals, street lighting, storm water surcharge, sewer backup fee, sewer, trash. I did call them and ask just how many flash-floods or rain storms do we get in the winter was informed that they average it out over the year. Also both city and utility both send me 4 bills so they are wasting 3 envelopes and postage for 3 extra each city claims that it is their billing program and they can't change it. BULL.... Government waste at its finest. Well we took the bobcat and dragged another car left on the lot out to the side street, still need to call cop shop about an abandoned vehicle and then they will tow it away. Tow companies in town wont touch one on private property and I sure as hell aint gonna pay for a tow job. Did that the cops run a plate to find out owner funny he has never stayed here and the tags are expired. Looks like every one went to bed early tonight.

Sweet dreams and warm fuzzies.....
