yes and no... its all about what the eggs need. I hate the term dry hatch, I help too many people who take it literally and I have to help save their chicks.

no need to hide from me dear. Trying to help you understand it, thats all

I need a lot of understanding.. I am just not good at telling when they need what obviously or they wouldnt of all drown. I used to have a terrible problem "helping" them out because it fascinates me . Sometimes I just have to go shopping and miss the hatch. On a good note, I am pretty good at helping the ones that do need it.

oh granny you cant help a chick out, that is what kills chicks. If you could see my messages and all those people that dont think I dont know how that chick came out with yolk and nasty. and I can just look at the eggs and tell if someone intervened. there is a fine line. if you know what your doing no chick needs assistance. And when you know what your doing, the ones that you think need assistance shouldn't come into the world anyways.

I went to a womans house that was hatching seramas and You should of seen it. Down in the basement, cement floors . She had stryofoam bators sitting on the floor there were so many. She had problems that girl. She was walking past one and said, I think these guys got too dry. She opened the lid and used one hand and crushed the top of a few od them and said she should help them out some. My heart hit my stomach when she did that.. She was a bad collector.

I know this, sometimes I cant help it. Thats why I would leave the house . I will still help a chick though. One turned wrong in the shell I look at like a breach baby birth. Theres nothing wrond with that chick. and I also wont help now unless its done the external pip and its been 24 hrs.

and if its zipping over half way, you can pick it out if you need to hold it.

but although it looks like humidity goes right back up in the bator, everytime you open it they are getting that flush of cold air and sucking all that moisture you put into their shells for hatch. Think of yourself when you open the door when its so cold outside that burst of air.
