good morning all I think hard to read thru the slits that my eyes are willing to open up to.

Granny, that s why i don t try to sell eggs. I feed them to cats, dogs& back to chickens(boiled). All my animals are so healthy because of the extra protein & and we never throw away food scraps like Tom did. I have a scrape pot on counter for them. They mostly go to chickens. My feed bill for 45 chickens is $40/month. Remember i also ferment the feed. My goal with 14 chickens & 12 pullets is to get an average of 12 eggs / day so they are paying their way soon. Thinking about incubating again soon.

I just don't like to see people parting with their hard earned money. Makes me feel guilty. I think it's a self-confidence thing.

You get hatching eggs for $2? Mixed breed? I checked Beaumont CL the other day but didn't see anything I liked.

I sold my eating eggs for $5 a dozen yesterday, but those were to friends who love the camp and are willing to support it.

camping, it's hard to offset the cost of the birds, if you don't charge at least when you got in 'em.


no, I bought eating eggs. the lady I bought them from has several roosters, over several mixed breeds of chickens. I paid $5 dozen.

after I first got them, I discarded about 6 because of the shape and one had a crack.

from the candling I did at day four, it was very apparent in all but the very dark eggs, they were fertile. I will candle again, either this evening, or tomorrow and see what I can see in them.

Bert think I could sell azaleas around here? I've got some starts I could dig up before we pull them all out. $5 a bucket? I can't remember if they're white or purple.
