Haha! Lurking for me often means that I walked away and left the computer on!

Twisted, your retirement set up sounds perfect. Plenty to do to keep you busy and out of trouble, which in your case I think is probably a good thing!

Granny, I was wondering if the surgery doc screwed up your foot. I wouldn't even know how to go about bringing a lawsuit, and it won't fix your foot, but $$$ might help alleviate pain and suffering (that's my fancy law lingo!). You could hire yourself a butler or somebody to help out around your place! Sad about your Tom having another stroke. His brain is still chugging along because you keep him on his toes! I think he is your rock.

Seramas won't be bothered too much by heat, cold is the problem. Opposite of most chickens. Mine were fine in the 100° heat we had and our summer nights cool down to low 50s which they handle fine. Their coop is pretty tight, not drafty. I did string a heat lamp for them during the winter for the few nights when it got below 35°. Maybe that's what I need for the garden, a heat lamp at night! Haha.... I don't want DEA out here checking on what I'm growing! They'll confiscate my cucumbers.

Speaking of the garden, rotten little dog forced his way under the plastic fencing and attacked my bean plants! Fortunately there were no fatalities, but 2 plants are completely beanless and were mashed over. One plant is in intensive care inside a tomato cage and the other will recover with rest and plenty of fluids. I can leave the Seramas out all day with that dog without problems, but given helpless veggies, he turns into a killer!

I couldn't help myself! Any of you guys got some sweet corn you can send me?

Aargh brat dog!! Hopefully your veggies recoup!

Sigh. So looks like I'll be getting my "garden wagon" anyway. Hubs was kind of shocked when I was looking at them online "they're that much?!? No way!" (This after he just spent a couple hundred on his car....

So anyway. Back a few months ago I was doing some side work for another friend, who just didn't get around to paying me. We just missed seeing each other on payday and then he was broke so whatever. I wasn't too worried about it. Anyway. He runs a specialty go fast business for cars. So hubs comes home with a bunch of new parts..."oh by the way we're even with boss man now".

Wait, you spent my wages on voodoo parts? (Yes I named his car voodoo.)

"But look at this catch can!"

"Well looks like I'll be getting my wagon when I get paid and there's nothing you can say about it now!!!"

Sigh. I've also got to do registration on our trailer my next pay too. Since he hideously protested paying the dmv the $75 renewal fee (yet is fine paying them over $1200 to non-op a project toterhome....) No fun stuff for me for a bit...but at least this wagon means I can take the garbage bins to the dumpster...which is handy when hubs liked to put dead squirrel in there and it starts reeking of death. :/

Bright side I think I've managed (I hope!) to convince him to stop looking at trailers to cannabalize for toter. He had me look at one off the side of the road the other day that was so water damaged and just reeked of that mouldy smell...yeah no. "Oh but I haven't seen them for that cheap!" Ugh! We have to non op Toter by the end of the month, you want me to look at a hot mess of a trailer WE CANT AFFORD?!? Here's our priority list for it! Get it dmv registered, get the engine for it, do all that AND THEN we can think about the rest. (Oh yeah he wants to buy an engine/transmission for it too, got a hookup at a junk yard for a grand but still).

It's funny. Hubs was commenting on "is it even worth it?!" With me working.

Uh yeah. Cause then at least we have my income to get the stuff done that needs to get done (food and some bills). My income sure won't be enough to live off of but...it means if you spent too much on projects our phone bill will get paid.

Joke for you all Parents' teach your children about taxes and the government EAT 30% of their ice cream.

Hit 'em where it hurts!

I was teaching juvenile drug offenders for a while. They had such big plans after completing their program. Going to get a job at the record store (this was a long time ago!) and rent a place and buy a car. I had the sad duty of informing them about the wonderful world of taxes. Told them to take 20% off the top of their future tiny little paycheck. Response was priceless! They can't do that! They can't take my money! Teenagers are clueless. Who do you think is paying for your court mandated treatment program?

It's not just teenagers. You know how many adults I see that get so offended at taxes...

Well someone's gotta pay the services your government provides. Roads, healthcare for those who can't pay (don't get me started on the American healthcare system it is borked), police, firefighters, public servants...
