There was nothing.. barely any bedding.... I felt bad for the birds. I wish I would have taken pictures. two little crates full of birds.. wire crates... up above the ground.... no grass no nothing but food and a little bit of bedding that was mainly on the ground below them....

It was shocking cause the chickens were all free range. The one bird with the bad foot kept it up high under his wings... and when I pulled it out it was twice the size of the other... I wanted to rescue it but its not my place.

Were there any dustbowls in there? Or places to get off the wire? Thats hard on thier feet, and dustbathing helps keep them entertained.

Mine lay their eggs right in the dustbowl for me

I wouldnt want to keep something in a wire cage their whole life. I mean, my chickens are in a coop and run and thats the same thing but they have tons of room to wander and dig in the dirt. all wire is just not cool. I liked your set-up LoKo. A lot of people wouldnt even think of that.

Agreed, devin would never let me keep birds or any animal like that. maybe that is why they seemed so messy.....

I bet there was a legband left on there, that wasnt taken off before it grew out.

I have read that quail can get some disease if you keep them on the ground shared with chickens. I have seen people keep them in little tractors on the ground, but no chickens. Of course I can't remember what the disease is, or if I've even got the info straight. Blackhead maybe?

I don't know, I don't know enough about them.. but they are small and rodent like... I don't know how easy it would be to train Oly girl to stay away from them also. To many unknowns and bad smells.
