It's 12:27. I did get them locked down, but I put the wrong bulb back in when I cleaned it, and temp was up up 104. I've changed the bulb, now to wait and see. I'm having trouble with the brooder temp, too. When I got home it was 107 at the thermo and all the chicks were at the opposite end. I adjusted the lamp and it went down to 88, and I should've left it. But I didn't, and it was over 100 again. Now I e got it down to 91, but I'm still afraid they'll get chilled.

So I can't sleep.

And I'm thinking of not doing the EHAL. We're going to my mom's for Easter, almost 4 hours away. So they'll either I'll have two set Monday, or they'll have to hatch without me.

Since I'm not getting eggs from my stressed flock, my heart's just not in it.

Goodness camping, it's like having human baby isn't it :hugs

91 sounds ok. I can see where your coming from with the Easter hatch, I'm not sure I could leave them even during the incubation period never mind lockdown. I'm a worrier when they are in there.

This last clutch I didn't monitor at all.

91 sounds good to me, too, but I get worried it's on its way up or down, not staying steady. The brooder has three compartments, and I haven't used this middle one yet. Learning curve. :/

Everyday is a learning curve!! Especially when your using something new. When I first got my brooding shed I was a nervous wreck, first time I had moved less that a week old outside. I'd always kept them in the house. They just looked so small going out in a big scary shed. It was very hit and miss, they were cold then too hot and I spent more time spying on them and adjusting the lamp than anything else. Took a while but got the knack in the end as I'm sure you will too camping :hugs

I see Wishing too

Hi York! I have been half reading and nodding off for a couple of hours. Now that I made it to the end, I am going to pass out.

Nothing new here to report. Oh, except 3 chicks have been confirmed males. Combs sprouted and turned pink in the last 24 hrs. Fingers crossed that the other 3 are pullets.

Off to sleep now. Good night!!

Nighty night Wishing :frow

It's amazing isn't it how they sprout and grow those combs so quickly :th Wish it was that easy with the polish, they like to keep you guessing and the thing that gets my goat is convincing yourself they are pullets for weeks and weeks only for an unexpected crow to come out of the beak!!
What will you do with the males? :fl the others are pullets!

Morning, No pips . I suspect they are all dead. 2 of the last chicks that hatched are weak, leg problems. One looks to have a little splay leg and is very weak. dont even have its legs yet. walking with eyes closed the other is walking very stiff legged and maybe a touch of splay as well. Both of these chicks need a bath but it will probably push them over the edge. I havent seen any of them eat yet. They dont seem interested.
