:hugs Hope you get yourself some chocolate!

I was reading about quail, and there seems to be a breeding season for them. Hens will still lay eggs out of season, but they will not be fertile.  Maybe the eggs you got are infertile??? Is the person you got them from new in quail?  Just a thought...

Hi Red!  Miss you around here, but think it's great that you are outside, active and busy.  Hope Pearl can take some pics of your new coop.  Was thinking maybe you could get some usable boards from someone who does fencing.  We has a section of our privacy fence replaced, and they hauled away all the old sections of fence.  My hubs kept some of the better sections.  He's going to make me a potting table.
miss y'all too. Thanks. I haven't thought of that. I'll try to find a few fencing companies around here.

I promise I won't bring her when I come visit you! Deal?

I have no idea how many mice I am currently feeding dcon in the house but I am now on my second 18 baits per bag of it.  I have a small holes  all over in the basement ceiling and  I just throw the baits up and in.

company bbl
sounds like you need for Enola to bring some snakes after all to take care of the mice. Lol

Oh you Roos. ;)

Wonder if the raptors have gone away enough to try to get my girls to work some soil in one of my raised beds...

Seriously it was rare. Go outside, they were under the truck, trailer and orange tree (which is what got me outside trying to keep them out of the ice plant that surrounds the trees...) a few brave souls came out to me....and then when they flew far enough away I decided to tuck em in their run for a bit. All eight followed closely and went into the coop when the crack was thrown.

No herding chickens required.

Bright side. Hubs put in an Amazon order. Getting some netting to put up around the pasture fencing to keep them somewhat contained but have more room to roam during the day. (Yes I know the netting won't keep anything out but it's cheap. And their coop/run proper is a bit sturdier.)

Hi everybody!

I'm way behind. Hubs took a couple days off of work, so my free time has been directed elsewhere. TGIF!! I will try to get on later, if I don't pass out again!
So glad you had some quality time with the hubby - never a bad thing!

LOL, sound like me, I tried to catch up when I popped on a couple of nights ago and realize pretty quickly it was a lost cause when I was several pages back but only about 6 hours in time...........
Everybodys got pipping & zipping & hatching & im so jealous im seeing green.
LOL, I know - this was going to be the time DS and I started venturing into incubating and I'm really struggling with not being able to for now.

Sounds like a plan to me - not everything has to be Ft Knox, especially if you are aware of it's shortcomings as far as security - I've toyed with the idea of adding either poultry netting or something else (netting hadn't occurred to me) to the pasture fence to keep our birds more contained when they are out of the coop/run and am not looking for it to keep anything out, just keep the birds in.
