Yes, and I have guilt for smacking this old feeble cat's bottom when she squats in my bed in the middle of the night and pees on me! How does Catholic guilt resolve this?

Honestly I would put the cat down and then deal with the quilt afterwards. I mean you want to have good memories of callie and not think thank the lord she is gone which is yet even more guilt
I think there's a lesson here but I just can't seem to find it.

there is but my brain isn't working so goodly right now

she is still loosing weight and some point that ends (one way or the other)

cat's are good at hiding pain (IMHO) it's instinct to avoid being lunch for something bigger and badder then they are including other cats.
