Granny, just catching up...so glad Frosty is home! Boy, can those furkids cause us such distress at times. Now, maybe things will settle down and you an get some rest.

thank you, me too. i slept 4 hrs. more then i have been last night. i am loaded for bear. frosty went to the groomer and got all spit shined . little green bow in her hair to match her diamond collar, haha, and a bandanna full of sunflowers to kick it all off. every time she walks past me she gives me a dirty look. she did #2 at the groomers but i dont blame her. someone squeezed my butt i would too !

Glad you got some needed rest. Bet Frosty was a cutie after the groomer. Stressful enough for them at the groomers, much less having your butt squeezed. Don't blame, I'd poop too.

more bad news. i should just say news, its always bad. i have to make some hard decisions here in a min. i went to the dr. today and i guess my foot is all kinds of messed up. i am not sure of treatment yet but its looking like maybe surgery. even if its not i am still in piss poor shape. one xray and a bunch of diagnoses. arthritis on top of foot, calcification, big heel spur, extra bone in my foot (cause of flatfeet) lol, bursitis, large growth of some sort and suspected tendon separation from wore out bone. i am wearing a breg boot. for those that dont know, it a dangerous contraption you have to were when your foot is broke. it rocks back and forth and is very heavy. throws you off balance. it comes just to my knee and is closed with velcro. it even has an air pump in it. my foot is not used to being held in the "correct" position. it hurts !! now, after all that boohooing i come to my real problem. i have no help. i cant rehome my flock, i am going to have a really hard time feeding them. if i need surgery it will be impossible.

Granny you make me think of all my old injuries that have started to remind me they may be healed but are still raising a fuss and hurting.

I hope you don't have to give up your flock because you need a surgery. I know it is hard trying to care for yourself and a menagerie of animals. My young Nephews helped me out when I had a severe sprained ankle and my messed up knee injury. The girls didn't know them and all they could basically do was feed and water them. They weren't able to check them over like I do.

I hope you are able to find a hand or two to help you out while you recover. Free eggs or maybe promise of chicks has to be a good incentive for help. Big Hugs you are a strong lady who will over come these bumps set in your way. I'll lend you my sledgehammer to knock them down to size.

LOL, i would give it a swing. i have 2 people in this house. one cant help and the other refuses. my chickens are crd, no one will want them unless its for food. i still have about 70 i am wondering how many i could keep if they were feed once a week? i have big feeders and tons of waters. maybe i could hire someone to come in. it shouldnt cost that much for just once a week.that is just one small part of what i have to figure. theres the 2 1/2 acres to mow, cat litter, the cats are my sons but he is autistic and will not change the box and i dont have the heart to get rid of them. they have been with us for 16 yrs. my husband has a riding chair but we are gravel and grass, mud. plus it wont go out the door by itself. boy it would be nice to have black top around the coop and house. even my walk is pavers. i should learn to do things right the first time i guess. always in a hurry. at this point i have no idea on what to do. open to all suggestions.

I'm not good for much but I wish I lived closer. I could help a little. I pray that someone will volunteer to give you a hand. Someone who knows what they are doing.

Granny - have you thought about reaching out to the Boy Scouts, 4-H, FFA, etc -- *someone* is bound to be looking for community service hours to put on their resume' and this sort of thing would be perfect for that. And, as always, if there is anything I can do to help you out just let me know.

umm, no. i didnt know they may be able to help. would of never crossed my mind. come monday i will give it a whack. i do know there are tons of wonderful people in the area and always willing to lend a hand but i sure dont know where to start. i really wont know much for a while yet but i need to have something in place. the price of gas is what stops most people

i found a newborn chick laying in the coop floor, it was upside down and very weak. i had a this yrs. red cochin sitting in the corner of the coop, i thought she was sick maybe. nope she was sitting on an egg that was knocked from the laying box would be my guess. she hasnt even started laying yet !! she is about half grown. unfortunately the little one didnt make it. I cant believe she did that though. they are full of surprises. the cat in the house has been sitting and staring under the fridge for an hr. now. guess what time of yr. it is? mice time!! i am not walking past there if i have to stay up all night. LOL
