Wishing4wings,

well, he is pretty no matter how he stands. I was wondering about that stance. does that come with age too or is it the quality of the roo ? I was looking at some today and frankly they freaked me out.it looked like the head had been removed and placed in the middle of the chicken. so there was breast, head then tail on short legs. the wings on my roo are dragging the ground when he walks and he is very young yet. I know they dont clip them so I see a balance problem in the future. the wings are outgrowing the legs. lol Is he yours wishing4wings ??

Those are referred to as Malaysian or traditional Serama. I think they look deformed and prefer the American standard.

That red cockerel was one we hatched this spring and I sold him to a man with a very happy little boy for $5. It was a good home for him.

The white-ish rooster I just sold didn't look like he was going to have good form until he was over a year. Not a show winner, I guess, but he was okay. He usually walked around on tiptoe and his wings got worn on the tips.

His chest still needed to fill out and the tail come up a bit.

This other cockerel was also sold. He was pretty and I would have liked to see him as an adult. Good big chest, but longish back.

The only cockerel we have left is a tiny silkied guy, who crows the least. He is not looking to be close to the standard either, but it's okay with me. I'll have to work on getting some pictures of him and the others.

this is a rooster that has been alive for a long time. he has never been ill and i have not seen him mate. I would of loved his babies. someone told me he was oegb wheaten something or another. he is standing next to a black alstrop that was not done growing yet. he is the same size as my serama roo but rounder and now i wonder if i have had a serama all along. lol

Maybe a blue wheaten? There are tons of colors for the OEGBs. He doesn't strike me as much of a Serama, other than size. It's really hard to tell. According to people who breed to the standards, a bird is not of the breed unless it meets the standard - it has to have the right shape. That's why a lot of the old timers call our hatchery RIRs and Hew Hamps production reds. They may have the right color, but the shape disqualifies them from being real RIRs or New Hamps. What really matters is that he is cute as can be!

Have you ever heard an old song by the Andrews Sisters called I Can Dream, Can't I?

I can see
No matter how near you'll be
You'll never belong to me
But I can dream, can't I?

Can't I pretend
That I'm locked in the bend of your embrace
For dreams are just like wine
And I am drunk with mine

I'm aware
My heart is a sad affair
There's much disillusion there
But I can dream, can't I?

Can't I adore you
Although we are oceans apart
I can't make you open your heart
But I can dream, can't I?

For some reason, this song popped into my head when I saw your little rooster staring at the business end of that huge Australorp.

I'll be happy to send you some eggs, but we sold the white rooster who was getting the job done. Not sure if the tiny silkied youngster will have the same ability.

He's so small, smaller than any of the pullets. Maybe by spring he'll figure it out. I have heard that the Serama eggs are very susceptible to shipping damage. Not as much cushioning with those relatively big yolks I guess.

Your new rooster should be gorgeous with that name. I had to look up candy corns. I type of Polish? Cute. I like all the color variations.
Gee, you don't seem to be slowing down much with your bum foot. How many chickens would you have if you had two good feet?

did you see him? he is on where i have posted in free . yes, the candy corn are polish, i have 2 hens . they were supposed to be tolbunt but breeder didnt know what she was doing and they were so pretty i didnt care. I had over a 100 before surgery. I am glad i dont have that now but i gave them to a neighbor that was going to eat them and that hurt pretty bad. with the illness they had it was all i could do. thats a long trip for a rooster but the color is what i love. I will have to leave here early to catch him on his way to work. and i dont have cell so hope all goes smoothly and i am getting what i am going after. was kinda wanting someone else to take a look at him that knows what their doing.

speaking of not slowing down with my foot. I went to a flea market today w/ a friend and wo/ my boot. it broke open and is bleeding. nothing bad or uncontrollable just a little bit. some how i am surprised i didnt bump into the surgeon while i was out. maybe it will flush the infection out.

Can anyone tell me what they think i am dealing with? 2 redstar hens...this is only day 2...started tylan n water...and colloudallvsilver n eyes...this hen is the worst...i feel terrible never had this before
