a cross between a Cornish and a Plymouth rock or white rock chicken butchered between 4-6 weeks of age. can be hen or rooster but all chicken. not a game bird.

my sweedish flower roo is doing great, especially with the ladies. how ever one of the roos in there that was top dog is now in a cage by himself. little mighty might thought he owned the world, and for a while i guess he did. I dont even know what he is. he is frizzled, very small, red comb and 4 toes. yellow skinned. feathers are black and he never stops chattering. I wonder with some time if i can add him back to the flock ? I have about 4-5 roos in there and they are not fighting. this little guy drew first blood . I wont keep him in a cage by himself. i think thats mean. he never fought with the other roos either.

This morning I drank a big cup of coffee and got to work. Caught the chickens one at a time and:

- took pictures
- drops of VetRX in the mouth
- rinsed gunky eyes with saline
- applied neosporin around eyes
- applied iodine on lesions

Tomorrow morning I'm going to weigh them. They all appear to be eating, but I don't know how much. And really no one is very fat or glossy since I added those four RIW to the flock. I think I'm going to sell them ASAP.

I started a new thread a few hours ago with pics of everyone. Granny, I did have a few with runny noses and one wheezing slightly. So I do have a bit of respiratory something.

I am glad your on top of this thing. the RIW , who ever you get them to should be told they may be sick. its possible you will give this to someone else. or sell them as meat birds. I hope they get better fast for you. did you have to scrape that mouth? scraped mine this morning. my cigarette stuck to my lip and i pulled a good sized hunk of skin off with it. its been bleeding for a while now. of course this ice cream is good meds.

day 16 on the 3 serama eggs ! i got another egg from my pr. today. lol so i took the turner out of my old bator and laid the 3 on their sides. and put my turner in the new one. I have / had one that is a week behind 2 that went in on the 2nd and one today. I didnt candle any of them because I am not ready to see any bad . I am working on my ,"its just an egg " attitude and when i think i have that down then i will take a look. I didnt up the humidity yet. tomorrow maybe.

You know, fertile eggs ARE edible. In fact, they're DELICIOUS!

Repeat after me, it's just an egg.

I went to the feed store this morning and saw all the poor unwanted roosters waiting in caged limbo for their fortunes to change. I sold a couple of cockerels that way, but it breaks my heart. Think my hatching days are over.

I'd rather eat them, but I'm too much of a wimp. Have to get some hatchet lessons from you, granny!

I can see the picture you paint. LOL I will have to try some chicken noodle when/if mine hatch. talk about some benny hill music. hhaaaha hopefuly the worst is over for you. sit you brooder outside . the sun is always shining .even when its behind the clouds. it will still help. I used some weak bleach water on my styrofoam bator . didnt hurt anything and it sure helped the smell my loving neighbor left behind in it. I know now what it was but i will spare all of you the details of it. my husband has bought me a new one for our anniversary and he made a point of asking me not to loan it. it was unnecessary because i wouldnt do that again anyway. do you have pics. of your set up and the chicken noodle chicks ?
I might have had a few die before these picture but even though you can't see them, there are a lot of babies under those Silkies.

The picture below is what the pen actually looks like but those are not the babies that were dying in it.
