aww, maybe you just caught her at a bad time ? might of startled her thinking a rooster was coming or something. I love the idea of you taking them to school. not really a hands on pet for little ones but if you have one that will stay in the same spot long enough for you to give a presentation i think you would be doing good.

Now I've done it. I sat down. Ugh. Been going since 6:30 this morning and I still have things to do tonight! The rain has started, but the wind isn't coming until later tonight. The schools might be closed tomorrow if the power is out or there's too much flooding. Everybody's so wimpy now. We've had worse storms than this and they still held school. We don't get snow days here, but now the kids are hoping for a rain day off. That's what I'm trying to get ready for now, no power, which for us means no water. I rigged up a big tub to catch some off of a carport roof, so we will have something.

The chickens are all snug. Put up a tarp where some leaks were over the run. Had to put a tarp over my car, which is also leaking.

Got to get dinner for the boys now. Hubs is in southern China for work. He's gonna miss all the excitement!

fill your pots ! bathtubs, freeze some . freezer bags. how much are u expecting? i havent watched any news in a long time. poor thing, i know what its like to do without water. we had a community well for a while when i was younger. used to slip off to the creek to bathe . outhouse, hauling water for dishes ,cooking, drinking it was a hike but i was young. your husband is in China? another not so good day here for me. my grandson still in hospital all he is doing is pooping blood. my daughter and the smallest one was visiting and my daughter passed out in the hallway. I have no idea what is going on except she is in the er and they wont tell me anything. the sick boy had the baby til husband had to tattoo someone for a ride to the hospital. worried sick. hoping it is her sugar and not something more serious. she is like me. bad sugar drops. but she just had that surgery so who knows. they have fought and struggled so hard. think about trying to rent a place with 6 children. then try to make the rent. Wish i had the money to buy her a home. there is old farm houses here that go pretty cheap sometimes but i wont be able to do it. Why they bring 6 kids in the world like that is beyond me. their choice i guess.

on a good note, I have been keeping it quiet. i have 4 serama eggs on day 12 still kicking. just not bothering to keep my fingers crossed this time.

the dr. let my daughter go. she just went upstairs to sleep with her son. they told her to consult with a heart dr. for follow up

still dont have my hopes up but i see a little black beak this morning. there is some blood around the pip and it again is at the side of the small end.  we got our first heavy snow and the electric has flashed 3 times already. I have not heard one cheep from this baby.  4 1/2 inches of snow already. If we lose electric I have 17 babies, 2 seramas out side and 2 babies in the house. not counting the bators.  I didnt buy any fire wood this yr. because of my back. 

Granny I rigged a cord from broken battery charger to my bators. So when I lose power they run off 12 volt battery. I use the small lawnmower batteries

wishing must of lost her elect. I still didnt watch the weather and now i dont want to. things are slow everywhere. Unless someone is having a party and i didnt get invited ? someone has turned their hounds loose in the woods behind me. they have something treed. I dont know where the owners are but this has been going on for over half an hr. now. i aint going out there i askeered . Think thats one thing i do miss about the city. when someones house was burning down from the cocktails or whatever the whole neighbor hood had a family reunion. caught up on the gossip, who got shot, who got busted, ect... around here its the dont ask dont tell rule. neighbors mind their own business. they expect you to do the same. no matter how many trips that blond headed woman makes back there while the wife is at work. aint none of my business.

Wow Granny your Grandson is passing blood? How old is he? Hope he and your daughter are alright, sounds like your family has had more then your share of health problems.
The big storm didn't hit us to bad here had some nasty gust but didn't last long thankfully, I hate the wind. We had a tree come through the roof of our bed room at 3 in the morning one time and scared the heck out of me. It's been raining so much it's a muddy mess out there and I slip and slide and fall trying to do the chicken shores one of these times I'm going to break something. Let's hope it only a egg
Wishing I would hate it if my husband where in China when a storms hitting. Hope all is well with you and your peeps.

Hi everyone. Should have checked in yesterday. We've had well over 5 inches of rain in the last couple days. We need it, so no complaints. Luckily we didn't get much wind here, so the power stayed on. Yay! Except for a short bit of time late last night, it has been raining steadily for 42 hrs. We're not used to it! Plenty of flooding, trees down, roads damaged, and power outages, but not near me, thank heavens. Hubs comes home tomorrow night. This is the fourth (fifth?) China trip for him this year. Lost track!

We can text and Skype and there's a phone he can use to call internationally, so he gets all the gory details from home.

Also, my dad, sister, and brother all live less than 15 minutes away, so there's always backup if I need it. School was cancelled yesterday and today as well, so boys get a 4 day weekend. Not the best thing to happen right before finals week! Seems they had trouble getting enough staff able to come in to keep things running.

There's a little break in the rain. Going out to check on chickens. Back in a bit!

Granny, I have been home 5 weeks now. Got my first egg today! My chickens are finally looking normal again.........
