Hope the chick is okay! Make sure it's the vitamins with NO iron. I would give a half dose (half drops) since you are dealing with a tiny Serama. It won't need to eat right away. Just hatched chicks live off the absorbed yolk for 2-3 days.

By the way, congratulations on the hatch!

Did you get any more? Give us an update when you can, preferably accompanied by photos of adorable fluffiness!

sorry about your chick Alison, it being that tiny you are going to have a hard time for sure. the one i had lived 6 days and refused to eat and drink. they will aspirate easy. not sure about putting it on its back. never heard that one. I couldnt tube feed because their throat is so tiny. there is 3 chambers there and if you get the liquid in the middle it will choke them. it is their lungs. it has to go to the side. there is a picture on here posted by casportpony that shows it way better then i can tell it. with that being said, I have been able to cure chicks with this . I didnt have the poly-vi-sol and i am sure that would of been better , i had rooster booster. LOL try dipping its beak in what you use as if you were teaching it to drink. and as was said, do it often. as far as food, when it does need it in a couple days, someone said that too. (not trying to step on toes here) lol give it a floor of food. even on their side or with a bad aim they will hit something when they peck. I mixed the rooster booster in the water and that is all it got to drink. it is different times depending on how bad it is for heal time. I hope it does well.

today is the day i am planning on getting the chickens back to their little homes. the temps have doubled !! it went from 1 to 2 .

wind chill -15 . supposed to be warmer this afternoon though and possible ice tomorrow. 20s i think? I want to take them back out anyway. they have a 250 watt heat bulb so unless it blows and i dont know it, ( its happened) I am hoping they will be ok. the little ones i didnt bring in are fine and they dont have feathers yet .

never thought of using pedialite . good idea. suzuied, very nice, color is perfect. I am no judge but i do have good taste and those are some super nice silkies. as for me, I would jump on the white spotted one. LOL  I like spots. gonna have to call me cruella de-vil. shopping done and hurting too bad to go water. Have to rest for a bit. My husband bought me a book from TSC it is titled Hatching and Brooding your own chicks. its gonna be a good read.   drove right up to a hawk today and it didnt try to fly away. odd i thought. it was at TSC too eating road kill. is that normal?  last chick still not out.

Thanks Granny, the spotted one are my favorite too! Hope you feel better. That hawk must of been real hungry!

seramas are back outside where they belong. it was a job. it all went smooth except for the pine shavings and the dogs. they thought the found a pile of leaves to track through. so floors are cleaned as well. the rest of the day is mine. well, except for putting one incubator away. hope every ones day goes well.

Glad you were able to get the Seramas back outside. That will be so much healthier for you. My little 2 1/2 week olds are starting to loose their fluffy feathers. Starting into that ackward teenager look for some of them. I am so glad hubby got a lid built for the brooder box. Those little stinkers are trying to fly all over. It is cute to see some of the older chicks take the 6 day old chicks under their wing like little momma's. Here is a picture of my little cowgirls. I call them that bcuz they have the little black spots on them like a milk cow.

Nope its just a picture of them that I cropped & added a boarder to. They are my mystery chicks. The momma to one of them is a White leghorn and a mother to the others it a offspring of the leghorn & a RIR rooster. I have no idea which of my roos are the daddy's to these. Lol
