we dont have time for that mess. did you know Feb. is spring for chickens ? It the time they get busy reading themselves for spring babies. I dont mean they are reading , their not that smart . getting ready. readying? is that even a word? I am the one reading about the chicks, they are the ones having all the fun. I do hope this book teaches me something. it is terrible the prices they charge (25 $) for books today. I havent really found anything of value yet. guess i will have to give it a proper review when i finish.

......... Waiting for the official review! ..........
LOL, Enola, ok, I will give my opinion on it. hahaa and so far its not good. maybe for beginners without internet ....... So, I guess a couple yrs ago I would of enjoyed the book. So far...

Keep forgetting to tell you guys why my swedish flower roo was so sick. the denaguard wasnt working. , bla bla bla. All completly my fault of course. So, my coop and run is divided by a screen/storm door and i lift the glass to allow them in and out except i always leave it open. when the weather got pretty cold and their water was freezing i moved it to the inside of the coop. and that is where they would get their meds. my swedish is much bigger then the others and wasnt going in. how he even got water is beyond me. I opened the glass as far as it will raise and chased him in and out a few times. hope all is good now. feed was in the run.

Glad you figured it out granny, hopefully things will warm up soon and we won't have to worry quite so much. I was blessed with a day of 24 degrees and no wind. My birds even went out and free ranged a bit. Not that there is anything to eat, lol. I can't wait for warmer weather.

I just want to cry.

gonna make a short story long, always seem to. I gave my heated waterer to a friend to fix the leaking plug. just got it back from Christmas, it is broken, froze solid today. so, no water in the big coop. bought a 3 1/2 gallon water for the cookie tin heater for the other coop. it has all drained out. that coop is a wet stinking mess. didnt see the swedish in the run so i thought Good he is staying in the coop. ya, beat all to hell. all the skin on top of his head is gone and tons of blood in the coop and he stinks. so he is back where he started. 7 gallons of water i carried out yesterday for nothing. the new waterer is frozen to the wood, I cant lift it. I hurt my elbow of all things. felt like a sharp knife or something just shot through it. I smell like the rooster, like death. he started drinking as soon as i put him back. well, of course he did all the water was froze. I am going to have to rig something up for the water now with whatever i can find at home ( money and ice storm on the way) Pretty sure it was the phoenix that got him. I checked beaks and feathers and his looked to be the one. now all i want to do is chop his head off.

Sorry about your rooster and the frozen waterers.

We rarely get temps low enough to freeze things solid, so I don't know much about how to prevent it. There's probably a DIY thread for making something on the cheap. You have electricity in the coop, right?

Thanks wishing, yes, i do. I am hurting now and dont feel like doing anything. I could probably take a lamp apart and make another cookie tin. just have to block up around it so the water wont tip like the other one. this is one day i wish i had some help.

I havent put any antibiotic on the rooster yet because i dont want to seal in germs. I have forgotten what to clean it with first.
