I've made couple of messes with hot chocolate that has marshmellows in it. I don't use that kind any more.
what other kind is there? I very much dislike the torture chamber. how long is your season? surely there is something? cherry tomatoes, or tommy toes as i have known them. strawberries ?

you have all sand dont you? we need to mix soils add our chicken poop and we would both have perfect growing medium. LOL Figs are messy bushes ? It is hard to remember them all. How do you melt marshmallow in the micro? I put a graham cracker, one marshmallow and a pc. of chocolate in there and the marshmallow blew up. I never seen such a mess ! sent the cracker flying and the chocolate was a muddy mess. it was good.

Across the valley where I grew up, it is all adobe clay. Terrible stuff. Sticky, sucking, slippery muck in the rainy winter, hard as rock in the summer. (was used to build the missions in calif. some still standing!) No amount of amendments ever helped. Raised beds were the only way to go for summer veggies. Blackberries and figs do well, though.

Figs are kind of a messy sprawling tree, but you can control them well with pruning. Good eating and good cover for ranging Seramas.

Melt a little butter in a big glass bowl. Stir in and coat the mini sized marshmallows and nuke em for about a minute. They'll expand as they get hot and start to melt. Gotta watch em though. When you stir in the crispies, it's like that marshmallow stuff in the jar. I'm too cheap to buy the premade treats!

All soil takes work, no matter where you are imo. We lived in farm country with natural springs. Now the place is all houses that get water in their basements I'm sure. Some houses have drives so steep it's just ridiculous. No kick ball in those yards. It's a shame.

I have never had the flu. never took a shot either and i also have a compromised immune system. (no not that) Its from having to take prednisone all my life. look at a person with cushings and you will see me in some respect. Maybe lularat will know. as she is a nurse but i have a very rare problem its called congenital adrenal hyperplasia with unusual presentation. top notch endocrinologist in Detroit Mi. at Henry ford hospital took my case for free so i could be studied. believe his name was Max Weisgerhof. something like that anyway. I am not a freak as some can be . hence unusual . I am glad to say the world has become more accepting today then it was when i was young. of course i also adopted that I dont give a rats but attitude as well. I had 2 children naturally something they said would never happen. I was very blessed. Anyhow, that was probably a little more info then needed when all i wanted to say was i never had the flu. whatever put me in the hospital this last time was bad. worse then i ever felt. freezing and on fire at the same time. begging the drs. to knock me out and never did find out what it was.

We have a long growing season, 272 days. Our last frost is supposed to be by Feb. 26th, though we usually have a "cool snap" around Easter. First frost around Nov. 26th. I've been playing with the almanac website. :D

This year I'm trying to do more. We have really sandy soil, made acidic by all the pines. Azaleas LOVE us. We're going to put in some raised beds for the campers. :D

you have a camp ground? I think I just figured out where we can all meet. !!! cabins or tents or just a sleeping bag under the stars !!! It would be awesome !!!!

that gives me an idea, If that hard nasty clay can build missions then it can build chicken coops. hmmm... Could get a pond at the same time. I so want a pond.

We raised horses and had a huge supply of the most excellent compost, so veggie beds were easy.

Around here, I'd almost rather see people build in the hills. Even if it is those awful mini-mansions and vineyards. The valley floors with the good loamy soil are disappearing very quickly. All paved over. Local farms and dairies are going away too. The choice to live off the land is being taken away as all the choice land is going to tract homes. I will stop being morose now. Can't complain when the weather is so beautiful. 70º+ yesterday and overnight lows in the upper 40s. A BYC friend in upstate NY said the high was around -30! Cannot imagine.
