I don't go to TSC when they have chicks. Between the bad care of chicks, sales clerks that decided they are chicken specialists and management team that literally doesn't gve a crap about all of it; I stay away from it all....

morning ! well, for a min. The babies i got from orshlins is twice the size of the 2 week old serama if not more. they kept "jumping the fence" so i removed it. gave them a ledge about a ft. up and they were there before i finished putting it up. at least i can keep their water out of the mess. I am changing the bottom 2 xs a day and you cant tell. so that means the cage is not big enough. dragged my big cage to the back door last night and the holes are too big. I dont think there is a way around 2 cages and that means they will be "talking" to each other all day. first time, My husband says, why is that cage on the back porch? with a nervous look in his eye. I replied, well, because i have 35 more coming and they will have to stay in the house as well. I do love him, its just so fun.

Dear Granny, I also have a mentally challenged gay Polish Rooster. He showed up at my coop with a little Aracauna hen wanting in with the big guys. (Stray chickens.... Who knew?) I thought surely they were some kids 4H project that escaped but no one ever claimed them. I've since decided that someone just got tired of dealing with them and turned them loose. The little Aracauna hen is smart and has turned out to be a good layer of small blue eggs but is a very disagreeable little biddy, the Polish is just almost too stupid to live. He stands in the corner and talks to himself, is afraid of the hens (and everything else for that matter) and is terrified of crickets. Ya think it is all the feathers growing from the head?

LOL, I do think some are smarter then others with the polish being low on the totem pole . bless their hearts. Its the same for people, you sacrifice something for beau tie . namely smarts.

not saying you cant be smart and beautiful but its a rare bird. it has to be the feathers extending into the sinus cavity.

Edited to add, give him a mohawk, watch out for the comb. sometimes its because they just cant see well enough to know what their doing or if a cricket comes by.

I just realized i might get blue eggs down the line anyway. (rip my little ees) the polish i have, I love the tops but i hate trimming so I hatched 4 polish/legbar chicks out. they should have light blue eggs right? plus the top not is still cute. just enough

If polish lay white eggs you 'might' get blue eggs from that cross. I have 3 legbar hens.
One lays a light green egg, one lays a greenish blue egg, one lays an almost blue egg. (When I put the almost blue egg beside an Araucana egg, it looks green)
