Not awkward to me. :hugs   As you can see i really dont have secrets. if its in my brain, its on my lips. LOL  It is a very nice feeling to have too. I dont know if its an age thing or what but one day you just say , I dont care who knows what. ask me and i will gladly tell. You either like it/me or you dont. It is a feeling of freedom that dont come easy for many.  that doesnt mean you cant hurt my feelings by saying you dont like me but I like to know where i stand.

You know, I'm kind of getting to that point already. I do get my feelings hurt easily because I'm a sensitive soul, but I am who I am and I would rather know if someone doesn't like me. Chances are I don't like them, either. :D Haha I do my best to be kind to everyone, to be a good friend, a good mama... beyond that I will speak my mind if I see the need and I'm sure I will only get more bold with age (like a fine wine, LOL). :) I hope I'm not giving you guys a bad impression of me, lol. :)

So sorry to hear about your dog chitlens, I had to do that with a dog of mine that I had for 14 years and it is very painful to do :hugs

I'm so sorry about your dog, too. It is so hard! The absolute worst pet of owning pets. I told my oldest son (he is 7 and has Aspergers) that she is waiting for us on the other side, and that even though it's so hard to say goodbye it's worth it because they bring us so much joy in the time that they are with us. Trying to keep reminding myself of that, as well. Many hugs to you, also. And thank you for the warm welcome. :)

Granny I hope your foot feels better today and you can take it easy and rest a bit (not sure if that's possible, haha). :) Sending many healing thoughts your way! I'm off to vacuum and get the baby in the bath, my power is being shut off tomorrow so that they can replace my electric panel. Trying to get the house cleaned up before then so that they don't think we live in filth. :) Not sure what I'm going to do all day tomorrow without power but I'm sure I'll find something! Maybe I'll take baby girl to see the chicks at the feed store. :)

*edited for my horrific spelling :)

Hello manychitlens!

Welcome! I agree about how hard it is to lose a pet. I even have trouble putting down a sick chicken. I turn into a big soggy mush puddle.

How far north in calif are you? What kind of chickens do you have?

Sorry about your kitty, Grey Mare.

Thank you so much! :) I will definitely cry when one of my chickens dies. I'm a softie.

I'm in Sacramento. :) We are getting our first chicks in two weeks (!!!!). We have wanted to start chickening for a few years, but between one thing and another it just didn't happen. We are very excited. We're getting a creme legbar, an olive laying "rhodebar", a chocolate orpington, and two silkies. We're getting then from Papa's Poultry. We can legally have three chickens. That's three, right??!! ;) I'm in trouble when chicken math is already causing a problem... My husband is almost done with the coop, so that's fun. :)

oh lord, I would just die if i had to choose 3 of mine to keep. couldnt do it. I would end up in jail or court . or both. Your son has aspergers? My son just lost his therapy cat and its rough. he spoke his name for the first time yesterday. a break through !! I did nothing. went outside and took 2 serama roosters out. and that was it. foot still hurting too much to be on the gravel.

I got 3 pullets from him last fall. Little Marans cross, jubilee Orp project, and a cuckoo Orp. The Orpies have just started laying, but the Marans has been going since January. What you are getting is totally 3 chickens because Silkies don't count, right? They're not really chickens!

You are going to have very pretty eggs.

Granny, such a bummer about your foot. Take care!

Wonder if it's time for a new therapy cat... or therapy bunny?

sometimes there's so much going on I can't concentrate.

Eggs being shipped today not Monday. No time to get ready with this incubator that is still not done with this hatch.

Drain pipe came apart AGAIN in the basement crawl space and not an easy fix. Only the third time. I just can't seem to get it to stay fixed. I may have to do a complete overhaul of the pvc pipes.

Yes 3 is going to be difficult. It really isn't even enough eggs for us, it's me and my husband, and we have 4 kids (3 boys ages 7, 5, and almost 4, and then baby girl who is 17mos). So we will probably still have to buy eggs, which I find obnoxious. :)

I'm so glad to hear that your son is making strides! I can imagine how very difficult that loss was for him, poor thing. :( Yes my son has Aspergers, SPD, Auditory Processing issues, and ADHD. All mild, but when added together they don't feel so mild sometimes. :) We've started some therapies, and have an IEP tomorrow. He is in private school but fully integrated, but we can get recommendations from the district and funding through the state with the IEP, so that's what we're doing. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I go grocery shopping today, spend $150 for groceries. Get home to find out the door knob on the front door won't open. Something has gone wrong with the inside of the knob, the key just turns in a circle without unlocking the knob.......

I am standing there looking at all of the groceries sitting on the porch, when my land lord shows up....... He helped me carry the heavy ladder from the barn so I could crawl in the window. Now, I have to go to town to buy door knobs for the house. One for the front door and one for the back door. He was on his way to work, so he is going to let me deduct $20 plus the cost of the knobs off of next month rent!

If he hadn't showed up, I would have had to take all of my refrigerated goodies to work and put them in the break room refrigerator!

Mike would have had to come over so I could load that ladder on his truck to get it up to the house. I think I should put my step ladder on the back porch. Maybe a lock and chain will keep somebody from using the ladder yo get in the house while I am gone......
