the roos feet are very dark. Like an EE but he dont look EE to me. does nugget have dark legs ? and thats the only roo they have ? it seems very young. You should be able to see wing feathers on nugget by now .

My goodness - such a busy bunch! Have been struggling a bit this week with some stuff that has had me writing and then deleting several posts.....much on my mind.

@granny hatchet - I love the way you are able to find good, humorous memories to look back on even while you are in the midst of dealing with so much stress. Loved your rolling pin tale! I am sorry that you and yours are struggling with health issues yet again and hope that things start looking up soon. Very glad to see you have not washed or blown away in the latest round of storms to hit our area - don't know about you, but I've had enough rain for the rest of the year at this point. Had to laugh reading back on your question about giving the chicken to the chickens - that was one of the things our girls got after I cleaned out the spare freezer yesterday once the power finally came back on - surprisingly, the smaller freezer in the kitchen stayed cold enough the ice cream in it didn't even melt, so we didn't lose near as much as I had been afraid we would. I made a dash to town when I woke up and saw the power still hadn't been restored and got ice to move things from the fridge to a cooler, so that helped.
@prostar - Nugget is just too cute! Nice job on the brooder, even it it took a rolling pin to get there.
@campingshaws - I am so sorry.
@Wishing4Wings - not sure if I should congratulate or offer my sympathies with regards to the learner's permit. Remember that period all too well with DD and am not looking forward to it with DS. Is he afraid of driving? Growing up where/how I did it was pretty standard to be driving well before you were legally able to due to having to learn to drive around the farms and whatnot.....by the time it was time to make it official we were well seasoned drivers, lol.
@Dannachic -- just wait until you look over and see your post count has a comma in it --- it sneaks up on you and you then realize you might have a problem, lol. So glad they got your power fixed - these storms lately have been just crazy. We lost power up here night before last but it was thankfully back on in about 12 hours. I remember when Hurricane Ike (at least what was left of it) blew through here years back -- spent over a week without power that time, and then we had the ice storm that same winter that knocked out power for days as well.

So, as I type this I am sitting here waiting for my phone to buzz with a message from DD -- as soon as we get word DS and I will be driving to Ft. Knox to pick her up....and this is where my many typed and deleted posts comes in. On Monday, DD was injured in a training accident (she was only released to rejoin her unit Sunday after having been treated for strep throat immediately after she got there last week). She took a fall from an obstacle on the ropes course, falling 10-12 feet and landing on her head. In the days since we have gone from "she's fine" - and was sent back up to finish the course, to a mild concussion, from a CT to an MRI, and finally to being upgraded from a mild TBI to a moderate TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). There is an area of swelling in her brain and she is dealing with vision issues, headaches and weakness/grasping issues in both hands as well as some memory loss. Of course, all of this is only gathered from a few texts and a couple of very short phone calls (at least while in quarters on sick call she has had some access to her phone)- so I am not really sure just what is *really* going on or just how bad things really are --- nor will I be until I have her back home with me. For now, I am holding on to hope that it is not as bad as it could be - that this is going to be a speed bump in her life path vs. something that causes a total detour. The hardest part of all of this has been not being there with her through any of this. She may technically be an adult (she turned 19 the day we dropped her off), but she is - and always will be - my baby girl.

Ol mare, This breaks my heart. How hard it must be for you.

What can I do to help? The not knowing must be driving you nuts. anything, name it. I dont know if this is relevant or not but Toms dr. told me the swelling in his brain from the stroke would take about 2 weeks to go down before we would know what was permanent. . With his first stroke that was not true. he improved or a course of 6 months so dont be discouraged if things dont happen quickly.

Anything, tell me .

star, did you spread the wings to see if it has pin feathers ? because i am not seeing any and at that age it should be visable. hmm... can you see an extra toe on that rooster ? Now i need to know what he is. silkie mix maybe ? can you post in what breed is this ? that way i will be able to sleep tonight. hahahaa @Dannachic , why do i feel so much older then you guys ? Not being rude by any means but you are old enough to be my mother. I miss her so bad sometimes i cant breath. I am very happy your kids still have you. I wonder if they know how very lucky they are ? I am thinking of my mom on a computer and i just cant picture it shoot, I thought i was too (whats the word) advanced ? to be able to ever learn this thing. but i have dementia so that is where my mess ups go. Do your children live close by ? Im sorry, I guess it shows how bad i miss her by the stupid things i am saying. maybe they are step children. I have 4 with one of them being 2 yrs. older then me. LOL
