The dr. that did the surgery said dont walk without the boot because it is already re tore. dr. today didnt look at it. I would be happy to do as she says but i am concerned that it will finish popping off. I have been trying to do stretches for a long time. I am willing to try because i have nothing left but if it finishes tearing it will be wheelchair. I just got some horrible news. My niece in FL. who lives with mama (sister) just gave birth to a drug addicted baby girl. the state took her. I heard she is very tiny and special needs. My other sisters have discussed foster and they agree they are too old to raise a special needs child. Thats their words not mine. special should not have anything to do with a decision to take a child or not. maybe they think because i am the baby and have gone through it...

Granny, we should put those two doctors in the ring and let em duke it out! Too much conflicting information. Talk to the physical therapist about your concerns. They are generally better listeners.

Very sad about your niece's situation. Poor little baby. It's natural to want to help family, but your plate is so full. It wouldn't be good for anyone for you to take on more, and your sisters shouldn't expect it. Sometimes the state does a very good job. I have a sis in law who is paranoid schizophrenic. She hears voices and does secret government work for the military. By day she writes pages filled with tiny meaningless symbols and only goes out at night so the satellites can't track her. Mostly she is antagonistic with family, so it is more effective for social workers to interact with her. Many of us in the family would like to help, but in her case, helping doesn't help.

Hi Min!  Have you decided on the breeds you want?  Are the restrictions still in place? 

The restrictions are still in place but I have shortlisted what breeds I want. I have decided to do it in waves lol.

First wave : as soon as the ban is lifted, go over and get two pol hens, probably the chocolate Orpington and the Frizzle Buff laced polish. Speak to them about wave two.

Wave 2 : Rent incubator, hatch seven eggs - 4 Welsummer and 3 of something else. Try to sex the Welsummers, keep one girl and give the rest back. When you take them back, buy a day old female daisybelle chick.

Wave 3 : At some time in the future lol. Buy a POL Wheaten Marans and a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte.

I will finally have eggs lol

Granny, I bet you are broken hearted over your nieces baby girl. I just want to acknowledge your pain and let you know that I'll pray for you, your niece, and the baby. Wishing is right, sometimes things work out much better for those who are helped by folks other than family. Our best friends adopted 6 children, 4 at birth after they recovered from drug addiction, and they are doing great. One is in HS now, gets A's, and wants to be a vet. She helps me with my chickens on weekends.

"We have been notified by APHA that we fall within the 10km Survellance Zone from the outbreak of Avian Inflenza in Goosnargh. At the moment, we are not able to move any livestock onto or off the site. The restriction also applies to the sale of eggs. This effectively means for the time being we are unable to sell any hens, ducks, geese etc. This also applies to our Hennels service. Hens and ducks that are already boarding will have to stay on the site until we get approval from APHA. We have contacted a number of people who have booked hens into our hennels in the next two weeks, to allow them time to find alternative arrangements. If you have hens booked in with us, please ring to get an update.
At the moment, APHA have not provided a date when we will be able to resume normal business, but as soon as we find out, we will post it onto the website and facebook. The SHOP is open as usual for all supplies, feed, bedding, drinkers, feeders etc.
We apologise for any inconvenience and hope you appreciate this is outside of our control."
From the place I was getting hens, it was just a precaution before, now its official.

Lots of places do it around here. Its for when you go on holiday, you can take your hens to them and they will look after them while you're are on holiday so you know they are safe. It costs somewhere in the region of £1.50-£2.50 per bird per day and is totally worth it for the peace of mind. You can also ask them to save the eggs for you if you aren't going away for long.

The problem is, due to the quarantine, until its lifted people who had their hens in Hennels can't collect them.
