Granny when I am forced to cull chickens I don't want to eat, I cook them in the chicken's crockpot and feed them back to my chickens. I simply can't stand to waste a chicken by killing it and throwing it in the trash. Too much waste for my conscience.

When I have a dead chicken I take it up to the old farm and put it out in the orchard for the critters to get. There is a little cleared area in the berry buses where my dad found a dead deer. We call it the circle of life.

I knew you do that. what if you plan on culling way more then you are keeping ?

I throw them in the woods behind me but they are not deep and a person lives behind them but with this heat and more then a few it would reek

Kill a few, cook them.....

Kill a few more......

Your chickens are mostly small breeds, you might get 3 in the pot at the same time.

I hope no one is offended here......

There is no way I could kill a chicken and leave it for the critters..... The dam dogs in this neighborhood have eaten enough of my chickens.

you said nothing offensive enola, dont let the wigs get to you.

I only have one crock pot and if these guys are sick I know cooking kills germs but dont you have to clean them, pluck , everything you would do for you to eat them?

My chickens have their own personal crock pot. And when I cull a chicken, i wring its neck, wait for it to stop struggling, apologize to it, thank it for completing the circle of life and put it in the pot. Whole.

The chickens will eat everything but the bones. I pick them up later and throw them in the compost pile. They eat the feathers and most of the smal bones.
