Count her out about 4 or 5. You keep most of them. Do you have a porch you could cover with plastic for the winter. Yes I had chickens on my back porch. I just put down layers of newspapers & tossed more on top as it got poopy. It is very easy to roll it up and it's all ready for the compost pile.

Or you could read up on house chickens. :)

they are in a nice building. Like the wooden ones you buy from lowes. They still need heat no matter where they are. I doubt if she will come for less then 15 an I have had no other offers. I cant keep feathered chickens in the house because of Robert. If i do 15 I might as well do them all.

I was reading some good ideas in the winterizing your coop part. Put some silkies in with them to keep them warm. Submersible heater in a 50 gallon plastic barrel.

Hi all, hope everyone had a good day. Its been hotter than hades here today. And wouldn't ya know it, that's when Big Momma decides to go Brody again. So she went for a dip in the Kidde pool & off to the broody breaker cage. She was none to happy about it either. I was needing windshield wipers for my glasses after she got done flapping her wings in the pool, lol. At least it cooled her off a bit.

Granny, how is Tom doing after his fall?

FINALLY finally finally got caught up here! So many things I wanted to comment on, but now I probably won't remember everything. And I'm not going back to check. It was over 60 pages!

Anyway, the big road trip with sis went well. No problems. We drove through a lot of desolate country through Nevada, southern Idaho and eastern Oregon. Can you say SCRUB? For miles and miles, hours and hours, nothing but scrub. Seeing Crater Lake and the redwoods at the end made up for that. Pics to come when I have time to download. School is starting for both boys this Wed. High school for both, but different schools in different towns! I think one of them is going to be tardy a lot!

Granny, if you do sell your Seramas at the low price, get an agreement (in writing!) that you get free fertile eggs on demand, so maybe sometime in the future if you get the winter heating figured out, you can start again. Who knows, maybe she will pay more, $5 a chicken is too cheap. My older son has texture problems with food (cannot at raw carrots to save his life!), although he's more willing to try new things now, including food that's mixed together. Hope Tom is feeling better and you too. I wish Benadryl knocked me out like that. I'll sleep for a few hours and then BAM, wide awake.

Somebody talked about the EEl river. We were just there, and I don't think it qualifies as a river right now. Just pools of water here and there. No flowing water, a few fish, and no snakes that I saw! Sure hope we get some rain so it can be a real river again.

Braces and teeth pulling... that brings back memories for my eldest. He was completely missing a permanent tooth on one side, so the matching tooth was pulled on the other side and the braces went on to close the gaps and fix it all up. Been more than 2 years and he's starting his senior yr in high school with them still on. Took longer because he was slow to lose the baby teeth. Got that from me... all my fault. But he's going to have a lovely smile to go with his devastating handsomeness (his words! but true!)

Rosie and Ruby... I saw the first post about them 3 days ago and thought they were boys too.

Was sad to see that others thought so too. Such beautiful birds. I got two English Orpington chicks to give to a broody hen. Didn't work, so I had to raise them, one blue one lavender, both ended up cockerels of course! Waaaah! Sold them at the feed store for very little, and hope they got god homes. They were great gentle beasts!

Grandson has same problem with his teeth.First I've heard of someone else with same problem. He's first year high school shortly to get braces on.Agree with orps gentle beasts. my 3 [splash, dark blue and white] are as wide as they're tall LOL.

I counted or tried to count my seramas . I couldnt get a true count but about 20 adults. Someone offered $100. She has been here before and its a long ride for her . She said count her out 100 dollars worth. but she will want them very cheap. like all of them at that price. I cant heat them this winter .

How very depressing. I tried so hard to get a start of them and now i have. My electric bill came in this month for 281.00 Nothing on outside.
She sounds like a greedy cheapskate to me! Upsetting for you.

wishing, glad your home. I missed you although i had forgotten where you went only that you were not here. I remember now. LOL looking forward to pictures.

As fa a greedy, well i probably am too. I know what she is doing. I just dont know what i am doing. You have me wondering about the others keeping them warm. I have a lot of others. I doubt if they will stay 40 when its 0 out.

Tom is ok far as i can tell . he has a knot on his arm he says is painful but if thats his only problem then he was lucky.

Morning all, glad to see / read all of you this am.

Set 34 eggs today, 11 polish or "apple spitzer" mixes , all LF.

The school bus stopped today and all 4 of the little ones came piling off . Then the older one calls and says, Im stuck at school, can you come get me ?  So I woke Tom up and told him your never too old and off i went.  Mom just now picked them up. 2 stayed here.

Good luck with your eggs granny :fl
Wish I were setting some :hit
