I tried that with the beer only i used a jar lid. too small maybe ? the ashes from my wood fire place seemed to work well. sand too. anything that would cut them i guess. I couldnt pick them either. they are very gross.

try putting a ring of diatomasour earth around your plants. Also another good trip take a pie pan (glass is best) pour a can of beer in it and leave in garden. Slugs will by pass your plants for the beer and then drown themselves in it. Sort of like some people I know.

Had some beer cans strategically placed around the garden last night but no takers!! Good beer down the drain and they didn't take the bait. Had put lots salt down though. They are going for the chicken feed that has been spilt during the day. We have had a lot of rain of late but quite warm too and they are loving it.
I'm hoping with how many we killed they are now at bay.

did you have the cans buried ?? IT needs to be very low to the earth so the little buggers and get to the goodies. Maybe even you polich would like beer soaked treats. Not sure if they could get drunk or not.
