Morning from SWLA. 66 degrees this morning. It was like a gift from God. I took the pup and walked a mile this morning, then managed to get the pullets out of the coop while leaving the hens in. I let the roo out, too. I just want them to lay their eggs in the boxes, so they're cooped until they do. Then I moved the tractor to fresh grass and let the other babies out. All before I've had my coffee!!

Gift arrived here too. I woke up to the sound of water running off the carport!

Not enough to call it real rain, but a heavy drizzle, which is worth a lot these days. We are at the southern end of the the "storm" so hoping Oregon and Washington are getting more. They really need it too with all the terrible fires up there.

Much cooler today. Yesterday my poor little #2son had to run 3 miles for a cross country meet. It was over 95° and the air quality has been poor what with the fires and he is slightly sick from being back at school with everybody's germs. He only made it a mile before the asthma kicked in. Too bad this rain wasn't yesterday. He would have managed then.

camping, what type of dog is your pup? I know your cutie little CKC spaniel died, but can't remember what your other dog is.

There is a hawk screeching up a storm out back. No free ranging for the Seramas unless the crows chase it off!

Eee gads!. What kind of hawk and how big was the chicken?  I didn't think a hawk would be able to fly off with one; maybe a bantam.  Did the chicken survive?

Friday nights, most people go out and celebrate the end of the work week.  We go to bed early.  Too tired and the thought of not having to get up early in the morning makes it all the more satisfying.  Hopefully granny is getting some rest.
I'm not certain on what kind of hawk as I was not there to see it. The chicken is a 15 wk juvie and is doing okay thankfully. The last hawk attack this spring was a red tail. Its wing span was over 4 feet across. It managed to kill itself by flying into my juvie grow out cage, it broke its neck. This one was probably the one I saw trying to get one of my other chickens 2 days ago. It was the smaller kind of hawk, not certain what they're called.

how old is your GS ? they shouldnt of allowed anyone out running in those conditions . I find that a little stupid . Hope he is ok.
I dont remember campings dog died . ? Sorry camping.

did you do the rain dance and sacrifice ?

he made the coffee. I think our water is nasty. sometimes it smells really bad. Like sewage . ? the water softner is still broke and has stagnate water sitting in it. Nothing i can do about it except drink nasty water.

granny, he is my son. Hubs and I waited to have kids, so we are old parents.

Yeah, way too hot for me, but most people can handle it since the the humidity stays really low. If he didn't have the virus thing, he would have been fine. Viral induced asthma is what the doc said. Exercise is only a problem if he's got a bug.

My hubs can work outside in 100° without any trouble. I was hoping the boys would inherit that from him, but sadly no, especially #2. He just like me. Gets red like a cooked lobster!

Can your SIL come and help with the water conditioner? Sounds like it needs to be cleaned out and restarted. You have the salt kind? My dad's well is sulfur-y. Smells like rotten eggs! He uses one of those pitcher filters for drinking water.

sorry, I read wrong . no coffee lol
SIL did take a look and has no idea how to fix it or even turn it off. He knows tattoos , thats about it. yes, its the salt kind. there are instructions right on the lid on how to clean something that stops up easy but I dont understand it.
I dont know how your husband does it. 100 is bad. I couldnt even breath that sitting on my tush. Are you the one that put a pic. of husband up that I said was good looking ? dark hair, Hispanic look ?
