Granny the layer goes in 5 gallon hanging feeders. Oats (in main coop) go in a trough type feeder that about 18 inches up off the ground. But in the annex oats goes in a round type feeder and they scratch it all out.

I wouldnt of thought to feed oats. arent they hard for them to pick up ? The same kind we eat for breakfast right ? they dont have them at TSC.

Newfie, when my mom passed several years ago, I remember my dad coming to just that realization. I never knew how much your mom did around here until now.

TOTALLY GET THAT I always got "men don't do that" from my father until Mom passed away all of the sudden his tune changed and he became (well for him) sort of proud that I could do most of what mom did. Other then iron that is. LOL

Well, my dad had to take it all on himself. Luckily he's a very practical person. If you can rebuild a car engine and fly a jet airplane you can figure out how to run a vacuum cleaner!

I don't carry the wet laundry up to the clothes line out back like mom did. I feel slight guilt but the dryer is SO much easier.

No grass to mow. I put down layers of newspaper and straw in the garden so no weeds and hold water. Carpet paths in beyween. A lot of the back is brick that I can just

Feed oats you can either buy the Feed oats they sell for horses or try a local elevator they might have them as well.. Basically all they are is oats that have been combined but not "cleaned" in other words could still have any bug/hoppers or other random seed in with the oats.

Don't; accidently buy Sweet feed it has molasses in it and is much pricier.

The farmers around here grow oats so not a problem for me.

The feed oats also would still have the husk on them.

are you talking about those big round silver things ? no oats grown here that i know of. wonder if i could grow it in clay.
