I used safeguard for goats. not sure how long but i didnt change the water. and only gave it once. i think they had the same water for 2-3 days . I dont know if it needed to be changed every day or not.

newfie, Lily is doing pretty good. she is starting to come when called , knows her name, hasnt messed in the house for a couple days. She will jump fence and run . at those times she is deaf. she wont jump fence if im in the house but working outside she will.

I have a drs. appt. Monday @2 all my work done for the day. it was a lot to me. forgot the litter last week so it was a real joy to do Things were growing.
HUGE difference in the polish already ! they even went up my new ladder

I even cooked for them today. thats one dish the barn cats didnt stick their nose in.

this is what i used, 16 eggs, 2c.oats, 1 c.oatmeal, can mustard greens and can of peas, tbs. bacon grease, 1/4th c. sugar,3 tbs. rooster booster. cook in micro 5 min. stir and another 4. YUM YUM

I have never done that before. It was odd for me. Never "wrote" a prayer. I hope it helped her . I found it a bit odd that she came here for help. No family at all maybe ?

I put .1 ml of Denegard in a small syringe, stuck it back on the right side of her throat (to my left as I face her) and squirted down her throat. They don't like the Denegard and won't drink, and being dehydrated won't get her well. Just guessing on the dose. Dawg gave dosage that equates to 1cc (1ml) per cup water. I figure a wee thing like her would never drink a cup of water, so gave her a bit. Not too worried about overdosing with this stuff.

Her posts made me cry. More like sobbing really. Hope the little guy is getting better.

hmm, Might give that a go sometime. could treat a select few instead of the whole flock. I use mine with molasses .

I know how she feels, everytime Mike has an episode, I feel all alone in the world. It is very scarey to be alone when you are looking at someone lying in a bed with tubes and needles everywhere.

When I dosed my big hens a few yrs ago, I gave each one a piece of bread with the dose soaked in. It was hard! Had to get each one by herself to make sure she got her portion. They would steal if they could. That was before I learned how to "tube" from casportpony. Don't remember the exact dose though.

Absolutely heartbreaking - especially to have it compounded by having such a communication barrier making it even harder to try to cope when you don't understand half of what is going on. I am glad they figured out the translation issue - I had located a couple of German speaking friends who were willing to let me give her their numbers and do a conference/speaker phone call to translate things better for her, but by the time I got their permission to give her numbers and explained the situation they had it better sorted out at her end.

Spent some time today doodling out yet another new plan for the flock, lol, maybe I'll stick with this one - maybe not. I'm getting hung up on whether I truly want to have a roo or not - keep going back and forth. Was thinking Welsummer roo, but now I think since I am adding Speckled Sussex girls I might get a SS roo instead - I can still accomplish sex links in both red and black *and* SS was one that was posted as an "ISO" a lot around here this spring, so hatching some pure SS chicks as well would make for some sell-able birds in addition to the sex links. It seems the SS would bring more to the table as far as better production than Welsummer - which I've decided is more important than the potential for darker eggs from the Welsummer side of things. If we do go that route and hatch I think DS and I will make a project of a smaller hoop coop for a grow out pen......would be a fun project to do together.
