umm, anything else ? like a small snake or something easy? I was hoping to find out what he was before researching food but looks like i am just gonna go for any small owl. surely it needs grit ?

If I had to guess, I would say mutation. i found a picture of another one with yellow eyes:

He won't need grit. Grit is for grinding grain. Yes he would love a small snake, or chipmunk, vole, a baby rabbit. They probably would even eat the little early bird that is after a worm.
