That's on the homestaed farm where I grew up. 30+ acres. My dad still lives there. Mom passed some years back. Only a few miles away from where I live now. Unfortunately, dad doesn't want any roosters around him, or I would have about 1000 chickens up there!

Oh, the redwood is old growth, all fine straight grain. No more dogs around since mom is gone, so the deer moved right in.
It's beautiful. How fortunate that he has you close by and you him. Does he do chickens or anything for a hobby? No pets other than deer?

ol mare, any time you are missing your family and feel like cooking a big meal, well, I am not that far away !!! was just thinking how good some beef stew and cornbread sounded .. I made spaghetti and dumped a whole box of noodles with one of those BIG cans of sauce and only a lb. of hamburger that you couldnt find in there so I took my summer sausage and added it. hahhaaa
X2! Like ya'll said, I'll fix something edible and fast, but with just us 2, I don't cook a meal. When my Mom still lived with me (she moved back to Fla 2 yrs ago, too far from the Gbabies)

I think your spaghetti with beef and sausage sounds pretty good!

i love old barns..i had one at the place i lived before that my grandpa built..i use to play in the barn when i was little..state bought my home and land for a new road..broke my heart..i wanted to move the barn too but i have no room here for it...
That sure would break your heart! I swear I can still smell my Aunt Mary's milk barn. Does that ever happen to you? Something just triggers it? It's like a big hug to me.

This is how I find her in the snow

Aussies is short for Black Australorps

This Pepper, Patti and Einstein (she had another name but she's the one
who was, and is, figuring out how to get her and her sisters into trouble)
when they were pullets.

Here's Einstein all grown up with her buddy Ms. Dumpling
She is a cutie with her lil winter jacket too! Your hens are very nice. Love the names. I have one "Aussie" hen then. I like her quite a bit. I chose 1-2 of several breeds this year. Docile, heat hearty good eggers. Chose the BA for heat hardiness. They are amazingly heat tolerant! They do ok where you are as well? Do you heat your coop?

Can someone help jamie444? The post is something like hen puffed up not eating or drinking. It's in emergencies. Sorry y'all I know I ask this all the time but I can't help it.

There is a "sticky" thread at the beginning of the emergencies with questions that are helpful for diagnosing problems. It's a great guideline to get the pertinent facts.
