food rewards are terrible !!  you sad ? here , have some candy. next thing you know Im obese and depressed. who remembers the m&ms ? red one for a belly ache, brown one for a tooth ache. Man , I used to hurt all over !

Exactly. My pants don't fit because I feed my feelings. :(

And I see DD going down the same path. She's sensitive and likes to play with her babies, or read, or work puzzles games. Not rough and tumble like the wild man. And she's got a crazy sweet tooth. She's begging for dessert at every meal. I do my best to keep veggies for snacks (she is STARVED when she gets off the bus) and dessert is two pumpkin-shaped marshmallows that grandma felt they desperately needed a bag of.

Hoping next year I can have the garden for them to forage through. :fl

My mom thinks I'm too hard on DD. Ahe bought a bunch of little toys for DD for when she does well in school. But I don't want to reward her for doing well, because I expect her to do well. Just like I try to stay away from offering treats when she feels sad. It's important to learn to work through her feelings, not treat them with a bandaid.

DD is 6 and at the craft fair she wanted a doll. It was $3. So we decided she will work it off. She has to walk to the neighbor's house to feed and play with her dog, because the neighbor is on vacation. She thinks it's the best job ever.
My cousin teaches and he's told me the lack of respect for teachers now. From not only kids but their parents too. I tell you one thing if I'd done some of the things that they're doing or saying now, I wouldn't be here today. If I got in the least bit of trouble at school, I got three spankings. Teacher first, mom second, and when my step dad got home, got it again. Needless to say that only happened once. And that was for chewing gum. I'm still scared of bubblelicious today.

I have heard of the little blue pills making people happy but not sure about the M&Ms
now, Im gonna go with granny . Camping. refusing sweets is just as bad as too much. a little 6 yr. old shouldnt be worried about weight . its baby fat if anything. You cant win you know. something will be done wrong. no getting around that.

She doesn't worry, granny. I worry for her. We never discuss her weight. But recently she was getting candy at school (big bags or chocolate bars) then coming home and begging for cake or cookies or something. I don't mind going out for milkshakes or ice cream cones once in awhile. It's the every day that's hard.

The veggies for snacks are ones she chooses. I let them each chose when we shop, and that's how we ended up with a 5lb head of cabbage. She usually chooses radishes, and the boy picks carrots or apples. We also ALWAYS have bananas.

Anyway, I get full of words when I don't feel good. You should hear me when I'm tipsy. ;)
