So taking a Poll I honestly want to know what you think....Talked to ins agent today I can insure the yaks for lightening, hail, fire, flood , drowning, accidental shooting by others This ins would cost about $350.00 a year YES or NO ??? Keep in mind I have $20,000.00 invested in the herd.

They now have liability ins for 99.00 a year if they get out and do damage to neighbors, fence, crops, a car hitting them or any other type of damage they might do while NOT on my property. Except for themselves.
How much does one Yak cost?

We have a few ponies that we paid good money for, but we don't insure them for anything. Thought about getting medical insurance, but decided not to.

Is the insurance for just the ones you have now? Your investment is about to multiply itself. Will it keep going up? Do you have shotgun-happy idiots in your town? Have you talked to other yak people to compare rates? Do they make a habit of geting out and wreaking havoc?

I am the only Yak man in the state according to the State Vet department. I have had friends loose cattle due to stray bullets. During deer season. They aren't know for running ayak but we all know about my "good neighbor" so the liability ins id definite. To insure the cost of a lost yak or the entire herd. would be an additional 350.00 for the one's I currently have. The quote is based on what I paid for them. I will have to ask about any future calves. GOOD POINT

A novelty. Would someone want to steal them? I'd have cameras on them 24-7. Cameras might lower your insurance since it would help identify who or what caused the potential problem.
