Don't want to be a bummer here, but need to share that my cat is very sick. The vet sent us home with fluids and a supportive care plan, but it's not looking good.

The vet thinks it's kidneys or viral and doesn't think he's going to live. I am sad, but I'm okay... Just felt like sharing. Thanks for listening.

I'm so sorry for you and your kitty. It's always so hard and never seems to get any easier to say good bye to a pet. Bless you for giving him love and supportive care.

I'm going through the same thing with my dog at the moment and really understand how you must be feeling. She has got heart failure, fluid around the heart and repeated chest infections. We don't know how long she has got left and know the end is coming.
Oh no! You too York? One of your JRT's? I'm so terribly sorry! It's so very tough to see them ill and contemplate their passing. Please try to remind yourselves of the full wonderful lives they have lived. Thoughts and prayers to you and Kathy.

Kathy, I hope he is making progress by Sunday, that's good that you have made the decision to give him time untill then. I am very much like that myself as in they have time but when it's time it's time. I'm not one for prolonging suffering and feel there needs to be a cut off point so to speak.
My dog kipper is 13 nearly 14 and is a fantastic dog and it's very difficult watching her as she is now. But she is still eating and drinking. Goes out to the toilet and wants to go for a walk even though she can't go far. She is unsettled but I know she will let me know when the time has come.
Ending a pets suffering when it is time, allowing them to pass peacefully is in my opinion the most selfless and compassionate act of kindness to them. We suffer to relieve theirs.

Thanks everyone... I'm just hoping for a miracle.

-Kathy
I'll hope with you! Never know...

I agree with Mutt. Animals hide their pain. We sometimes have to make the hard choices. I stay with mine and pet them and cry over them. Sometimes the decision is the last kind thing we can do for someone who gave us so much. I'm so sorry.
