I have never built a bator and need a design. as Sally said , its heat coils and a fan from a stryofoam . I have 2 wafers as well.

Do I need to take the motor and coolant out ? is there a reason for taking it out ? where should the heat go ? top bottom or middle ? I appreciate any and all help

Granny, do you have pics and measurements of the fridge and heat coils?
I could make a few suggestions and probably sketch something up for you.
I am sure there are others Sally will enlist to help as well.

I am excited ! Im ready to save some eggs and dont even know how to make the thing yet. LOL Its black with 2 stickers on that says Snap on. the tool stickers. I think I will leave them . there kind of cool. I think I take the motor and Freon out before I start. Not sure why , lighter maybe or Freon and heat dont mix ?

you don't have to unless you want to .look at or find the sticker that says what it is charged with . could be ammonia or could be Freon if its ammonia it will end with the letter A. either way do it out side either can take the heat .

pictures would help

the heat coil is wound around 5 ceramic round things (sorry) and if it were stretched out I would guess it to be 12-16 in. in length. It is incased in 2x2s and chicken wire

I would remove the compressor and gas, just for the sake of the extra weight.
As for the gas, regardless if freon or ammonia, definitely release it outside! That stuff is not good for you.
If you are not overly concerned with releasing the gas to the environment, just cut the large and small tubes with a pair of wire cutters. Wear gloves and some type of face protection and slowly crimp and twist the lines away from you as you cut.
If you are worried about releasing, call a refrigerator technician to have it safely removed. It will cost, but they will do it safely.
